Let's clear this up. I am a Legacy player and would be seriously disappointed if SE ever gave the tattoo to none Legacy players. Without us, there would be no game, we did have to pay and sub for a period which from memory was 3 months out of the last six before the end of 1.0 (could be slightly off) as I paid for the duration that they charged us, I'm not 100% sure and I have friends who played in 1.0 and unsubbed before the end and did not get Legacy account status. If you didn't pay for the qualifying period you didn't get legacy status.

But the Tattoo was never tied to a subscription. You only needed a character. Never needed a sub. The reduced sub cost was from paying for 90 days.

I did join in Late ARR, but I haven't dropped my sub since I came here. Are you saying the guy who bought the game, didn't like it, and quit and never did anything else supported the game more than I have? Sure it wasn't dying when I came in, but this other person didn't exactly support it either, but because they made a character then they'd get the tattoo while I'm left in the dust.

Just seems unfair to me. Looking it up, someone said they played to level 20 and paid for 1 month. This was their stuff.

+ I did keep my original gear from 1.0 apparently when ARR launched

So for this person's case, they didn't pay 90 days, because they don't even get the cheap sub. But they still got the tattoo. And other things too.

The tattoo is actually only given to those who have Legacy accounts and do pay the lower sub, have the chocobo etc. Just because they said they paid for a month doesn't mean they did. I quote the following from my old email - Users with service accounts that paid for at least 90 cumulative days of subscription for the original version of FFXIV between January 6, 2012 and suspension of 1.0's billing services on September 29, 2012 will become eligible for Legacy benefits

They specifically said they don't get the cheaper sub, but still got the tattoo.

So are you saying Square then didn't give him a cheaper sub when he should have? That's concerning.

I'm pretty sure the tattoo is separate from the paid legacy awards, but there is conflicting information on this.

Untrue, the Tattoo is given to any character made in 1.X. It has nothing to do with the Legacy campaign itself. I have multiple friends who never achieved Legacy status with their accounts who have that tattoo.

Fun fact: Retainers created in 1.X and weren't changed coming in also have the Tattoo.

Did you make your character in 1.X? I mean it really is a symbolic thing more then anything.

I didn't even know the game was a thing in 1.X. I only had figured out during the later part of ARR when I was moving away from WoW for a while.

I personally didn't play much FF is why. So I never really looked for it. Nor did any of my friends even touch 14, so they never told me.
