Can you even name 5 chest pieces in the game that even show the thing off without taking off a piece of armor?

Not a lot of glamour or gear offers back and neck exposure, so it's not like we cover up our Legacy marks on purpose. Trust me, I'd show it off every chance I got if I had gear that worked for that purpose.

Nobody will see it unless you just run around shirtless. What’s the point?

Sohm Al Gear (Skywarrior, Skyhunter, Skydruid, etc.)
Spring Shirt
Sky Rat Harness of (Insert Name)
Coliseum Galerus (And it's craftable non-class restricted version.)
Most Coatees (For female only, and it covers up only the top half.)
Beachwear (Excluding the male variants of maybe two or so items.)
Generally anything that doesn't cover your back or at least the upper half will display it. This is just a small sample of the items available in the game that I just put together after a quick runthrough of all equippable chest items on the marketboard. Point is, there's several items that do. Sure most armor chestpieces in the game won't but what do you expect, they're designed for protection and not to show off skin. There are exceptions obviously but there you go.
EDIT: As a legacy player myself I'm against the idea of making the mark available again. This and the sub discount are the only two things I really care about. Many people may not realize this but for a good portion of the game's life there was no subscription fee at the beginning. The game was so bugged and had issues that SE postponed charging a fee until Yoshi-P took the helm. It was then that we were shown the concept of what "A Realm Reborn" was to be. In order to try and bring funds for the game's rebirth they then asked players to start paying a monthly subscription. While others just decided to up and abandon the game until its relaunch others decided it was worth paying the subscription fee and stayed. The sub discount is meant as a thank you to players who still continued to play and even paid a subscription for an otherwise at the time dying game. As for the legacy mark that was meant to show that particular character was from the original version of the game. If I create a new character I don't get that mark on their back even if I have a legacy account so it's not a reward for staying with the game but for characters that existed pre-ARR.
By the way I find the "I couldn't play the game back then!" as an excuse so dumb. Unless you were a child at the time there wasn't much of a reason you couldn't have bought the game and if you had a semi-decent computer. The legacy mark didn't even NEED you to have an active sub or have played for a specific period of time to qualify for. If your account was from pre-ARR any created characters from that period in time will have the legacy mark.

When the game came out, I was a student in High School with very little Final Fantasy knowledge in the first place. I couldn't even pay for my own wow sub. Didn't even hear of the game either. Can't quite play a game I didn't know about, at all. Literally none of my friends heard of it, not even my friend that's a HUGE Final Fantasy fan.By the way I find the "I couldn't play the game back then!" as an excuse so dumb. So no. I couldn't play it back then. Because I didn't even know it existed. Which is funny, because I've constantly seen advertisements for MMO's. Yet, never saw one for 14. In fact, I even saw more for Mabinogi, Nexon's game that has one of it's famous facts of having almost no advertising.

Guess what, I didn't know about it either. And given it was 7-8 years ago I believe, I was in university and could afford it if I wanted to play it. Well tough bananas. Neither of us deserve it. Not knowing (even with very little to no advertisement or even being a hardcore FF fan not knowing about it) matters not. All that matters is that you did not play it. Nothing else matters, no matter how much you try to spin it otherwise. It's that plain and simple, that black and white. Any further discussion is fruitless because it's that simple. When the game came out, I was a student in High School with very little Final Fantasy knowledge in the first place. White Mage ~ Sage ~ AstrologianBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
Don't have anything to add to this thread, but am trying to reach out to Paladin. Can you reach out to me on discord? I have some questions.Guess what, I didn't know about it either.
