It ended like this. There actually was none in 1.0 - when the time 'ran out', players were just automatically disconnected from the server with a 'server has encountered an error' message and were booted back to the launcher page, with the login fields replaced automatically by a banner that linked to the 'End of an Era' trailer on the SE Youtube page, there was literally no "Dalamud falls" scene in the actual game itself, it was out of game players saw that. It was still amazing though either way.

I loved the event
chaos and hectic its like 5 fates and there's both earrings
waiting for the NPC to pop is the real grind
Not sure how relevant this is at this point, but it still seems the most people are stating that the recruiter NPC has a cooldown of ten hours after the the three hour event window ends. However, I had noted yesterday that he spawned at around 1PM EST while I was still at work. Didn't expect to seem him come up at all when I finally got logged in, but as I did so at about 7PM EST the NPC actually DID spawn, only three hours after the last spawn window would have ended. I still don't like the fact it despawns at all, but this does indicate that the event occurrences aren't as infrequent as many had been led to believe.
As for the event itself, it was definitely as chaotic as others mentioned. Even though I got killed off a few times by some cheap shots, it was still pretty fun though, and I managed to get both sets of earrings. I can only imagine how much more hectic these city-state invasions were back in 1.0 though lol.
Wouldn't surprise me that SE did a stealth update to the timer after all of the negative feedback as it wasn't 3 hours early on and an EU GM allegedly said the interval was greater than 9 hours which fit with what we were seeing at the time. Not sure how relevant this is at this point, but it still seems the most people are stating that the recruiter NPC has a cooldown of ten hours after the the three hour event window ends. Oh, it's certainly plausible. Shame they couldn't just make the NPC permanent instead, but... Take what you can get, I guess. Maybe they'll do so later on when less people are trying to run it, but I suppose time will tell.
I don't think the randomness was supposed to be THIS random, otherwise what in the hell SE???!
Gaius van Baelsar: Nor is this unknown to your masters. Which prompts the question: what came first, the chicken or the egg?
I would like to do this event before I go to work today? Unless you would like me to quit my job and sit in front of my computer for 24 hours. I hope that isn't your intention with this event.
Unfortunately, a GM already responded to someone in-game. The event, dumb as it, is working as intended. Basically, you need to check back repeatedly to see if he spawns. No one is certain if there's any type of pattern but he does seem to rotate times, so you may catch him eventually if you're able to log on everyday.
