Totally Off topic: Hey Biggs After the Dev figure out what there doing to appease EVERYONE (lol) what server are you going to go to if you pick and if not and they change to 2 merging into one mind if me and turt move to yours or you at us would be nice to have people we know

On topic: I can see how the forums would be bad and a good thing. I can see them being a good means to judge an idea or a concept (kind of like a verbal test server). The only thing is the forums are only a limited view of players so shouldn't be consulted 100% and if so they need to add in game polls to make it so everyone has a voice for fairness. Other then the lack of fairness it seems nice to actually have a voice in the making of a game you play.

Now for the down side I dont want the creativeness of the Dev's to be limited to are unwilling to try new things or ideas just because its hard to do or understand. It is there game not ours they should have final and total say and if people are to busy arguing of something it binds up the Devs on one issue instead of moving on to other issues we want or they want too fix.

All in all I want them to take are opinions and listen to them and mold a game we can enjoy but dont listen to every loud mouth forum troll that wants this or that changed just because they dont like it or cant get use to how it works.

As soon as they reannounce how they are going to do things I will let you know. I would love to join you guys. Most of the folks I originally played with when the game was released are waiting for 2.0 to drop to come back. I myself have only been playing cassually until then because I want to experience all of the new things they create, not just the new things they add from 50 up. I can say it most likely won't be Besaid. Not much of an rp guy. If they go with the merger/transfer option they were speaking of though, I will be interested to see which server they merge Kashaun with. I will definitly keep you posted.

Forte, awsome news, and I totally hope you get this!!!!!!!! We are coming to you man! Tell Turt too. The new server that your server and Gyshal are merging into will be called Masamune, and myself and 2 or 3 of my friends will be transfering to you there. I hope you check this before moving man! Hit me back on this thread, I will check it daily until the 1st.

Ragnarok is doomed, it will probably merge with some other server and then the name will be gone :T

I agree that this sort of thing should have been decided with a poll. Particularly the mid-January-going-on-mid-March poll. If the poll had been out anywhere near on time, it should've included any big decisions they were planning like this. It has been ready for about a week or two now I think, but it was put off again in favour of letting us see 1.21 first and all the changes it brings. Every update brings changes though, that being rather the point of updates, so they should've just dealt with it in January... That would have eased the anger of the public too so everyone would've won. I suppose it does no good to talk about what would/should have happened as we can't change the past but still, I'm frustrated by the fact that the poll will be 2 months late if they don't put it off again.

As for how many people actually read (let alone post in) these forums compared to how many loyally pay to play every day total, I think the numbers would be very heavily based in the non forum goers. I know I didn't start reading the forums at all until someone pointed me towards Reinheart's translation thread. Even now, it's very rare for me to read anything other than that and the Dev tracked posts, and it's VERY rare that I post anything. That doesn't mean I don't care about the game, quite the opposite, I'm probably playing instead of reading the significant amount of trolling and name calling that goes on here. I don't think that these forums are a place that most people would want to spend their free time, even if they are of the more social variety (which I'm certainly not). I doubt a poll would get the same number of responses as it did during free play time but I do still think it would get a much wider sample that would be much easier to sort through.

Even the people who speak up about their wants and needs every day will often get so caught up in their reasoning that they forget to say the actual important part of yes or no. "Do you want A or B?" "B is yellow." That isn't an answer to the question. It's astounding how many times I've seen exchanges like that and people actually think they're giving relevant information. The person asking might not know if the person being asked even likes yellow so that could equally be a positive or negative statement about B and gives no information about A. Pre determined answers (assuming both the question and answers are specific enough to present only specific data) that can be computer analysed into graphs and other easily identified information makes things clearer for everyone.


TL;DR version: poll late, could have fixed much, forums not good, "me Jane", you read not.
