Aether server questions

I'm looking to transfer somewhere in Aether but i'd like to avoid transferring multiple times so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a medium/large server that has a decent community, some map and/or hunt linkshells, and at least a chance of getting a cottage in the mist or shirogane?
Bonus would be if there's a decent group of crafters but it's not totally necessary.

I'm really tired of being in small servers or medium ones that shrink when they're not a preferred, it gets kind of lonely and I like having options to do different things.

If your concern is server size, why Aether specifically and not include Primal?
Not that you can't find some of the biggest servers in Aethe, but it's my own curiosity here.

Coeurl is a medium server but on the lower end of medium servers. How active people are depends more on your FC (and which FCs are friends with your FC) and linkshells that you use. This might disqualify Coeurl, but I am not sure. I have a small FC, and had 10 people active in the last day.

Coeurl has small houses In Mist and Shirogane. Mediums and Larges are hard to come by.

The crafters on the server are very nice, and usually are good with optional tips given the person needing an item provided mats. If you are a crafter, there are crafting FCs. I am the leader of one, and I know Lady Lucy is the leader of another. There are also large FCs that like to add crafters.

People on Coeurl are very laid back for the most part. Drama is rare and doesn't last.

I'm not sure about maps and hunt ls. Hunt is usually done by train. FCs like to do maps.

Depends on what you mean by "a chance" to get a house. I moved to Gilgamesh and eventually got a small for myself by just passively waiting (checking when I saw them, not camping). Also unless its changed, getting any house in general would help, because it bypasses the wait timer when you switch.

Beyond that, economy is one of the most balanced in the NA DC and closest to a JP server. For example, a piece of iL350 crafted goes for ~220k, while on Mateus when I was there ran close to ~1mil a piece if not over (and for reference, the JP server I play on run ~180k average-ish). Glam prisms: Gilga- 900 per, Mateus- 1100 per, JP server- 800 per. Again, those prices reflect when I was comparing before I moved, and can clearly change on Mateus.

It's also pretty easy to pick up on map runs; while I don't do them normally myself, my friend dragged me along a couple times and found groups rather quick. Hunts might be a bit of a problem if you're not quick, due to the higher population.

I'm not against staying in Primal if I were to move to a bigger server, it just seems like the raiding population is bigger on Aether and because I'm pretty random and anti social I like having options to join PF's. I don't want to rely on an FC for raiding or really anything because I'm probably never gonna find one I will stay in forever, so I want to be able to pug.

@Zsolen, thanks for the info, i'll think about it. I do like servers with no drama but it sounds like being part of an FC would probably be necessary for other things on coeurl like you said

@Sho86, that's mostly what I was referring to. I'd made a character on gilgamesh out of curiosity and leveled it to see what the housing situation was like. I noticed all the houses were taken so I just assumed that it's at least a little competitive to get a small. Which is fine, but I know on Balmung it's scary so I was trying to get a feel for how competitive it is I guess? and thanks for the info!

Yeah, I put an alt on Balmung for fun when the server first opened up for transfers. It's definitely not like that on Gilga, much more of a shot. Mediums are rare but do show up (would probably want a small first for the switch method if aiming for one). Larges however I've yet to see open up at all. If you have any other questions on Gilga I'll try to answer if I can. If you prefer we could also chat on gilga with your alt, depending on your times online.

Faerie is on the larger end of medium, not quite up there with the titans like Gilgamesh and Balmung, and I feel like it's a pretty decently active/friendly server - even during the slower patch times. Also a pretty good raiding population.

Possible to get a house if you check frequently for auto demos. Crafters... they're there. Prices are not as low compared to Gilga and Balmung, but market items are still considerably more affordable compared to small servers.

Will echo this - I've actually moved from Shirogane (got it during the initial rush) to the Goblet, to the Mists, and finally to a fav spot in Lavender Beds when it opened up. I don't have empirical data to back it up, but it does feel like at least a small plot opens up every 2-3 weeks, and depending on which one stays open for a few hours to a couple days (for the worst spots in the Goblet).

Just checked, and in fact there's a couple small plots open in one of the Lavender Bed Wards right now. So yeah, they definitely pop up frequently enough here.

Cactuar is a higher-mid-pop server that has a fairly active and dedicated Hunt community; I’m in 2 LS that frequently call them out like clockwork, and the Hunt community is really friendly (and they don’t tolerate trolling when it comes to the Hunts). The server community is fairly well-rounded, and has a little bit of just about everything.

As for houses, smalls open up occasionally in all 4 housing wards. Just make sure to dedicate the time to checking aetherytes every hour to available plots.
