Thread: Alternative Method of Obtaining Tournament Prize Cards?

Is it just me or are these a bit exclusive? I mean, I know they're supposed to be prizes for doing well in the tournament, and that's just fine. But the way they're presented seems a bit restrictive.

At present, there are two ways to get the four tournament prize cards:

1. Win a tournament in 1st - 3rd place.
2. Get lucky with a Platinum Triad pack.

The only issue I have here is that both options have their share of flaws.

When it comes to Option 1, let's say you fail to get one of those top three spots. Okay, that's no big deal, try again next time. But next time is eight weeks from the end of that tournament.

For Option 2, there's a different problem of vendor trash. I recently got first place in a tournament on Cactuar, and all three of the cards I got in Platinum Triad packs were Lahabrea. It's no big deal, since I can sell those for MGP, but this is just another indication of how neither of these two options really allows for much wiggle-room. Worse yet, you only have a chance of getting nine Platinum Triad packs before the tournament you want starts again, and RNG suggests most of those cards will likely be Lahabrea, Shiva, or Ultima Weapon for the 50th time each.

If anything, I would suggest that maybe the tournament prize cards be available to purchase, either at or above the Cloud card in terms of cost. That way, people who win the tournaments can still earn it in a legitimate way and people who are screwed over by RNG might not necessarily need to wait eight weeks for a retry.

The rewards from these tournaments should be removed entirely, that's all I can say. Gating rewards behind a system that is inherently flawed to where it is so easy and simple to boost points if you have the friends to do so. It's pretty ridiculous you'd lock cards behind such a flawed system. More often than not a legitimate player will never make the top ranking, ever.

That is an issue, yes. I know that for a while it was difficult for me to place due to my work schedule letting me off when the Battlehall was empty.
