That's because 1.0 is long over. They don't need to listen to us anymore. They did then because the game was a fail, they probably feel they don't have to anymore to the level they did then.Yes he has and that to me is a problem when the game producer is basically saying if you don't want to play our way go somewhere else. That has been one of my biggest beefs with SE that they really don't listen to the player base or make sure they really understand what the players are saying and instead tend to blow them off as noise.
If you can't clear with your FC, don't complain, you're sticking with raiding with them and not pugging. If they suck as much as you say they do, then do what the rest of us do when our groups are stuck or can't ever clear, hit the pf's up and pug your prog and clears. If they complain, just let them know you want to get more prog than the pace you're going at with them. If they aren't even close to clearing, then there's no risk of screwing them over with clearing said raid boss until they're at enrage.I don't like the 4 raid bosses for 6 months thing, because the difficulty curve is really steep between the first two and the last two. In other games there's usually a good handful of raid bosses for any difficulty curve, so you can 'make a night out of it.' For example in Warcraft, if there's 10 raid bosses, you can farm the first 4-6 and feel content about it--even if you can't fully clear. Where as in FFXIV. It feels like "well, is it even worth hosting a raid night for 2 bosses?"
Yeah, I could switch teams, but why abandon a great friends/family FC just to raid? If I was going to trash my social circle anyways--I'd just play Warcraft. Which is what I did. But it's all just rants to blow steam. Thankfully discord keeps me connected with all my friends. God would I kill for a decent FFXIV app that let me chat to the FC while I'm playing other games. -grumble grumble-
I have wondered myself why you can't pm while bound-by-duty. You could in 1.0. You could also request repairs from other players then, but not since then. You could also job change inside the instanced dungeons. 8 linkshells have been a thing since 1.0. Originally we only were given 1 retainer. They gave us the second for free after Yoshi-P took over. You could have your minions out when ARR was in Alpha testing, but the feedback iirc was that they were targetable along with everything else and slowed down the dungeon prog. I wouldn't mind seeing notifications of ppl on my friends list coming online. You get that notification in TERA. Iirc, you could tele out of inn rooms in 1.0, no idea why SE did away with that. We can only guess as we're not in the know. As for mounts, are you referring to the in-game ones as well for being account-wide or just the mogstation ones? The way retainers work now is what they came up with when they did away with the 1.0 market ward system, trust me, you don't want that...ppl then would sometimes speed hack inside and purposely crash the market wards on the server and if you were inside at the time, well, you'd be stuck in there until the game spit you back out. As for raid bosses, it's always been 4 bosses per tier, the mini robot bosses in a6/a6s were the exception, but basically one boss in the end, just broken up into 4 mini arenas. I never played the earlier FF titles before 10, but I am familiar or make myself familiar when they bring out bosses from classic FF titles. This revamped game was promised to be a theme park of previous FF titles. That draws ppl in. Also probably had to figure out how to turn the game around during it's revamp in 1.0's days with the time limit imposed on them to get it out during the PS3's lifetime. Also gives ppl the chance to enjoy classic bosses w/o having to suffer through severely inferior graphics, if they are unable to work past that. Why would you want your chocobo out in the housing ward? That would just add to the countdown timer. Are you trying to tell me that if I'm in first person mode and I look up that my character's head looks up? I'm pretty sure that it doesn't. Your head turns to face your target. It has no connection to the vertical direction you're looking at in first person mode.
Also, hey, if they let me message people in a duty I wouldn't need to waste like 6 linkshells just to circumvent a screwed up system. I literally have linkshells that are designed to be one on one chat channels so I can talk to my friends while in a duty.

I want to pull my chocobo out in the housing ward, so when he levels up from being in the chocobo stables forever, I can just pull him out--feed him, and then stick him back in. I just want that process streamlined.
Sounds like you are due for a extended break, I have played since march 2014 and recently took a break myself for 11 months and that helped sooth any issue i had over the past 4 years. I think you should do so or just continue to be angry at alot.
I am mad at Final Fantasy 14 because...
... I have the feeling that less and less duty finder-able content gets released.
We are getting less dungeons, instead we have Eureka, Heavon on High and Canals of Uznair (they get updated again in 4.4), all content where you have to pre-build a party and stick together for hours.
But I can't stand randoms. I have social anxiety. Voice-Chat is especially bad, however, I found a nice but small FC, wich don't use voice-chat at all. But this small FC can't fill the partys for that content. They didn't even started with Pagos. I have finished my relic and am level 35, we can't do this content together.
I am not into raiding, I did some ex-primals, but that's again content I would rather not do together with random players.
I remember when I could progress through duty finder, in easy content with a set goal where everyone was in the same boat by default. But now there is so much content where you can't use that tool and have to set the goals everytime a new and I just can't stand it. Especially the higher expectations of people. Somehow people in duty finder are much more tolerant than people in party finder. I am just an average player, I can't fulfill that expectations. I need a relaxed atmosphere, otherwise I rather quit.
And then there is so mich stuff locked behind that content. Mounts, Triple Triad cards, minions, the whole relic weapon.
I can accept that I will not get the suff from raids and PvP, because I am not interested in that content. But I want the stuff from the casual content, because I theoretically can collect them. But in practice it's too much to handle for me. I jumped over my shadow to finish the relic weapon, I even farmed Anubis to get the emote. But when I watched at the minions and orchestrion songs at the market board wich I had to farm in that non-duty-finder-able-content I was like "Nope".
I played for 5 years, I have way over ten thousand hours logged and I collected a looot of stuff. But now I really consider to quit this game, because the content isn't accessible for me anymore.
I thought Eureka and HoH were both extremely pug friendly?
Raid gear is 370, and you can get 370 gear from running duty finder content like roulettes and lighthouse. Which as much as I gave FFXIV crap. I think the ability to get MAX level gear from duty finder content is something not found in other MMOs. You could literally be decked out in 370 from nothing but mendacity and lighthouse coins.
You know what really grinds my gears? The game has so much wasted potential.
One of the best crafting systems I've seen in an MMO... spoiled because the economy is a poorly-managed top-heavy trainwreck. Gorgeous map design and artwork... spoiled by non-existent danger, overly-convenient transportation, and not even an attempt at creating sensible habitats for creatures (seriously, we don't need to have Section A be Creature X, Section B be Creature Y, etc...). Diverse, colourful clothing options... spoiled by a still-bad Glamour system and an obsession with high collars and longer coats that clip like crazy. An amazing path to level cap... spoiled by cookie-cutter content once you get there. And so on, and so on, and so on.
I'm very much nervous for 5.0. I don't think I have another expansion in me. I've grown attached to my friends, my character, my house, the storyline... but content really hasn't changed since 2.0. SE has refined and refined and refined, but it hasn't evolved the game. That's been a mistake, and a completely unnecessary one.
Every so often I go back and watch the preview video for the original release of FFXIV. Say what you will about the execution - and the execution was bad - but at least it had a sense of adventure, of depth, of challenge. All the production values and convenience in the world doesn't matter if that's lost, and yet here we are, five years after the successful rebirth of FFXIV, and the spirit of the game is arguably in the worst shape it's ever been in. Hopefully the 5.0 previews come with a sense of change, but I'm not holding out hope. It makes me mad, as a long-time supporter of Squaresoft, the Final Fantasy series, and particularly FFXI and FFXIV.
