i managed my first 5-point overmelds today on my Onishi hat and robe. Felt good and I earned my Gambler's Crown! Got some good rolls, every slot I overmelded was single-digit tries.

Heh, I got that achievement with the Anemos gear. They have 5 guaranteed slots so it's guaranteed to to get all 5 in and thus get achievement. I laughed when i saw a I got the achievement for 5 materia since I want melding the gear to actually use. Did not realise I did not have the achievement already.
