    Full-Screen, alt+tab= Crash

When playing in Windowed mode, if i alt tab, or get taken off the FF14 screen, it will crash the game with a Directx 7 type of issue as it says.

This issue has been acknowledged but it hasn't been fully addressed. "we're looking into it" is a lot better than "it's working as intended". my only recommendation is to not play full screen if you need to get in and out of ffxiv.

Not sure when SE is planning on addressing this, but I'm guessing it will be around 2.0

I really hope they do fix this problem in 2.0. As for me i cant play in windowed or i crash and not being able to alt tab out of full screen is the most annoying thing ever.

You could always play windowed full screen. Alt+tabbing doesn't break that way.

Full Screen Windowed doesnt really exist, you just have to make it the same size, but the ends of the screen are cut off.

The performance of windowed mode will also never be as good as fullscreen.

It may lack in performance but short of getting yourself another monitor it's really the only option.

I thought they said this was something that was going to be fixed faster than 2.0 from what I heard.

There are a few programs out there that allow you to play FFXIV in windowed or full screen with the ability to alt+tab out and not crash the game.

I recommend FFEvo, it's a program that rolls your Final Fantasy XIV Config and the game into one start-up screen, allows you to specify what resolution you'd like to run the game at, choose windowed or Full-screen mode, and create custom profiles that you can load up and launch on the fly.

I use several profiles that let me choose what quality and how large I want to play the game. It's a lot better than jumping from the game to the Final Fantasy XIV Config program, then back to the game.

The main point of FFEvo though is: It allows you to alt+tab and does not crash the game.

FFEvo is just pseudo-fullscreen though, so crossfire won't work. It's also 3rd party program and as such against the ToS(even though it might be tolerated).
