You make it sound they committed a crime.Rest assured, the evidence I have has been sent to the appropriate parties both inside and outside of the game. Since screenshots and videos are not counted as official evidence as they can be edited, there's little point in leaning on them. The meaningful evidence is compiling detailed reports that include the names of suspicious players as well as the times and dates of specific incidents.
I'd be happy to discuss the matter to a degree over Discord if you really wish to do that - but it is very easy for an investigation to be thwarted and so I am leaving it in the hands of the appropriate authorities.
Now, this particular thread has long since gone off the rails...but it's likely better if we return to the original talking point which is the earrings.
I'm happy to continue the discussion over Discord, though if you want to do that.

Not everyone was playing the game at that point for various reasons. I am asking how it affects you. We don't know what the requirements will be. It could be a candy thing. It may not be. Either way, does it really change what you do in game? They got the same chance we 1.0ers did, it was called 1.0. I would've been fine with it saying "replica", while keeping my hard earned trophy intact as we never got a title for clearing it. I'd be fine if they in a hotfix, added a title to valid account holders. I know many 1.0ers who never got the chance to clear for many reasons, I know one specifically who was promised help after others got done and got shafted. She feels that just handing this earring out like this cheapens it for her. She doesn't want them, she never cleared the fight (it was near impossible to find ppl), I just got lucky, and we were both playing from start to finish. I tried to get her cleared, but another 1.0 fun fact, sometimes if you clicked on things, you got stuck attached to it for a while until the game booted you out, and that happened to me when I clicked on the instance entrance after getting enough ppl (only time I found enough for a full raid). In those days, before anyone does ask, you had to go to the entrance of instances to enter them. Duty Finder didn't exist then. If they knew about it and chose not to play it, it's on them. If they didn't know about it, well, that's on SE for not doing proper advertising. Also the fight was in circulation 6 years ago. They were either too busy to come up with new rewards, or too lazy.
I see this event as an opportunity. I've said it earlier too. I'm not sure if it was this thread. I am getting some 1.X players together with a bunch of others for a Lore Night on Sunday on my server. The 1.X players will talk about all sorts of things. Some of it is of course lore, so people playing ARR and later can have a better understanding. They will also talk about how being a player was during 1.X and what SE was doing. I've had very positive responses to it so far, and there are a lot of enthusiastic people.
I've already established this, multiple times at that. I understand the item has worth, which I was always talking about.Alright, why do you care so vehemently about other people having access towards an item that is suppose to mark the 5th anniversary of XIV, a game that you seem to enjoy playing just as much as those other people, an attempt to broaden the horizons of other players and give them an inkling to what happened in 1.0 when so many barely know you exist? Do you enjoy being ghosts of past? Because, that's very much what you are right now.
For someone who screams and clings towards having something to hold as recognition over others, you sure seem to like being in the back of the closet instead of in front. No one is giving or taking away your recognition because frankly, no one knew you existed in the first place. Now, people know you exist because of the earrings being brought back again.
I'm not diminishing what they are to you personally, you can have and keep the memories. That's fine, they're yours to keep. No one is taking away your sentimental value here. I'm diminishing a digital item that you're trying to keep away from other people simply because you think that they don't deserve it due to personal bias.
That's being selfish.
If your sole reason for no one else having the earrings is along the lines of "they don't deserve them because they weren't there", well then, by that logic, no one deserves anything that you own because they weren't simply there.
It doesn't work that way either as much as you hope it will.
I'm done riding this roller coaster argument of the item is worthless trash but it would mean so much to give it out. This is like licking a strangers ice cream cone for a chance of them discarding it to take it yourself. Why do you care about these worthless items exactly? Why are worthless items going to suddenly broaden someones horizons. I'm sure it would be enlightening to know. This was ridiculous when it started, be honest or don't bother.
I really don't know where you came up this recognition angle, because it has everything to do with exactly nothing that I've said.
I don't think anyone beyond who has them deserves them because of their nature and what all of us were told at the time. I have a problem being lied to by the developers and fed recycled and what has been for many years, exclusive items and I'm not disregarding the principal of it. Yeah, I am biased towards them sticking to their guns, and? You want to dismiss both the value to those players, which have also spoken up against it, and statements from the developers with various hand-waving. You're somehow not ...?
If I'm selfish for getting tired of SE backing up all the time, so be it. I'll take it proudly.
How convenient you trimmed my post to cut off "They also want those rings back when you die or retire, just so you know." and then claim you own the ring. Yeah, it's "yours", so long as you are alive as an active engineer. That licence agreement didn't change when games turned digital either. The fact they became online services that require a server on the other end, did.SE reserves the right to deny you access to their servers and their accounts they allow you to rent on their game. You do not own them, whereas the ring in your example, you own and keep. That is why physical copies of things like games disc are such a major issue (when on the topic of digital downloads). Literally stopped reading there because you cannot differentiate between real value and fabricated value (false scarcity).
Literally, XIV goes poof, your account's value poofs with it. It's not a hard concept.
You're the one that brought up real world monetary value in regards to an item in an active game, That differentiation doesn't mean anything. Things are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them, or are we going to act like D2 items selling for thousands never happened. Among countless other examples in games. I'm sure they just had an omnipotent being tell them D2 was going to be around for as long as it has been though, because why would they spend that much on a worthless item in an online game over a decade ago.
Mhmmm there's a lot of hypocrisy here, MoroMurasaki you argued verbatim a few days ago in an other topic that giving raid rewards to everyone devalues raiding.
So when it comes to your "shiny stuff" it's not okay to hand them over easily, but when it comes to someone else "shiny stuff", suddenly it's okay.
In this topic you say:
And in an other topic you say this:
And this:
I find all this very hypocritical.
The Olympics are games. Is making gold medals exclusive to winners "really dumb"?
Football is a game is making a league trophy exclusive to the winning team "really dumb"?
Baseballs a game is making the championship trophy exclusive to winners "really dumb"?
Basketballs a game is making a tournament trophy exclusive to winners "really dumb"?
Ice hockey is a game.... You get the picture...
I could keep going... material or digital it makes no difference. Is the money you have in the bank meaningless because your bank balance is just digital pixels on a screen and not actually physical notes in your wallet?
Digital stuff is no different from material. that's why there's been that massive scandal over ownership of digital information and privacy.
What's selfish is when people have no thought or consideration for what trophy items actually represent or signify to the player base. All they care about is themselves and the fact that they want one.I'm not diminishing what they are to you personally, you can have and keep the memories. That's fine, they're yours to keep. No one is taking away your sentimental value here. I'm diminishing a digital item that you're trying to keep away from other people simply because you think that they don't deserve it due to personal bias.
That's being selfish..
If players want to completely destroy the meaning and significance of a trophy just so they can have one. Now that's being selfish.
I think it's not a case of players wanting to block others from getting the item. they just don't want them to lose there significance.

I think there'll be two things that would settle a lot of people down.
1) If they add the word "Replica" to the end there.
2) If they were to have players fight Nael in a remade Rivenroad HM, or a T9 setting. They were rewards specifically for beating Nael, so perhaps make them available from now on as a drop from T9 with a force sync to 50.
Which, if I'm hearing rumors right, we might get that second one. Or something similar.
Those opinions probably clash and come across as hypocritical, because, again, you're comparing handing out items for content that is current like it is nothing versus items that are no longer obtainable, due to the mountainous problems with 1.0, so stop pulling these poor comparisons. Even if people wanted the earrings, wanted them the hard way, they'd be impossible, Again, there's a dramatic difference between handing out items you can currently get and handing out items that are no longer obtainable.Mhmmm there's a lot of hypocrisy here, MoroMurasaki you argued verbatim a few days ago in an other topic that giving raid rewards to everyone devalues raiding.

I would argue that given the choice in the matter most people here probably would rather the fight be back in the game, with the true difficulty maintained, but they don't really have the choice in the matter, and the event has not even occurred yet.

Sure most would like the fight proper back. Old engine and all.
But I think most would settle on a replica item instead. It's such an easy fix!
http://king.canadane.com
Granted most people would be ok with this, but people would still complain, and not to mention it develops the poor mentality that anything can be handed out provided they label it a replica. You'd then have an outcry for people to release previously exclusive items as replicas, and many other difficult items to obtain. It's fine, just slap the word replica on it.
After what I've seen from this thread, I am 100% convinced there'd be a 50+ page thread about those replica.
This makes for a very entertaining commute reading though.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
