Of those up in arms over this how many are actually willing to vote with their wallets and turn their back on FFXIV altogether?

Why do they have to quit the game if they're displeased with one thing? Seems a bit extreme, unless they did claim it was the factor that will lead them to cancel.

Having one major issue with the game usually isn't a deal-breaker. You and I still play despite disliking SE's gear policy for men don't we? And lots of people play despite hating Eureka in all it's forms. Telling people "deal with it or unsub if you really don't like it" is kind of on the same level of a kid thinking "If you like it so much why don't you marry it?" is a good taunt... it's one thing if you don't see eye to eye with people who wanted to keep the item special, but implying that if they don't cancel their sub over this issue they aren't really serious about it is pretty silly. The forums exist in part so players can give feedback before they reach the quitting stage. This thread worked, and hopefully people won't have to experience this issue again now that YoshiP responded that they will be more careful in the future.

Some of those complaining are doing so across multiple threads and genuinely seem to want FFXIV to be something completely different to what it is going to be for the foreseeable future. Bear in mind, I'm specifically referring to the posters who seem to have very little positive to say about the game and appear to only subscribe to FFXIV due to the sunk cost fallacy.

Perhaps the players who feel so strongly about it should take their leave of the game and vote with their wallets?

If you - or anybody else - feels as though it is a 'slap in the face' then that is all the more reason to take your leave of the game.

Those who feel as if it is a bitter betrayal are free to leave the game - though they don't appear to be willing to put their money where their mouths are.

I'm not really sure why some people continue to play FFXIV if they dislike it so much.

I'm a firm believer in people voting with their wallets if they feel that a particular company has done them a disservice not just because it sends the company a message but because it's excellent for the individual's health and well being.

If you go through a particular poster's post history and the vast majority of their posts involve complaining about the game then suggesting that they close their browser and/or take their leave of the game is a fair suggestion.

Yeah. I'm not convinced those complaining about the earrings even enjoy the game to the extent that they claim.

And it's this camp - your camp - that is ultimately responsible for the thread being so large. Because they can't be happy just voicing dissent and making their stance, they have to stumble back into this thread time and again with the same tired arguments. With the same dismissive tones, thinly veiled attacks and a general attitude problem that will ultimately be this game's undoing.

If you have something worthwhile to contribute, we can discuss it. If you want to reaffirm that the thread is too creepy for you and leave it again, that's fine too.

Bit late to the party but eh i can add my 1 cent lol, I feel it was a mistake to add. Perhaps they could have added something else of his as glamour but I was definitely under the impression way back when that it was a limited one time.. I mean you can argue that "in ARR" is the keywording here although there might be other wording to lock that down too, but yeah. . . lol.

I'm not really a fan of one time rewards, I really like letting people go back and collect things but if ever something is said to be limited then it should be done as it is said. If it was keywording misunderstanding (that's some threading the needle lol) then.. definitely be super explicit in the future about any sort of limited items (like if they're just sometimes available vs never again).

If it was SE's mistake to release then personally I think a compensation would be a good idea- my suggestion is create a Nael Van Darnus or Dalamud trophy (or related emote) for housing, give it to them for free and then on a FFXIV anniversary also sell it coupled with a physical statue (like Odin mount, this will help justify the cost of making the model in game). Can understand some people being frustrated with this, although ideally (imo) content isn't designed to be limited just different types of challenges to obtain.

This isn't the first time SE has gone back on their word about a limited time item. The moogle outfit, as I recall, was referred to specifically using the word 'exclusive' and in connection with a Fanfest, which at the time was assumed to mean it wouldn't ever be available again. The white ravens were just the first time they chose to do this with a 1.x exclusive which was bound to happen eventually, but a lot of people got uptight about it. I can understand why, because I've felt let-down by these sorts of actions in the past both with items that I had and didn't have, but the whole thing just escalated to a point where it felt more like a bunch of people complaining because how dare they treat 1.0 players the same way they treat the rest of us. I was glad to see these threads die out finally.

In my defense I didn't go find it on page 10 , saw it on the front page and was like "oh yeah.. I felt weird getting that as a reward..". haha

I just want to encourage SE to do what they've said, whatever that may be, and hope they honestly review/audit themselves and adjust/adapt as they go. For whatever that may be, we don't need more poopy game companies we got plenty of that disappointment lol. (yay fallout 76, EA/Activision, etc)
