Do you guys know why people won't answer whether or not they DESERVE this item despite the fact they did not DO the fight???

Because they know that the moment they say "no I do not deserve it" that the whole idea that these items should have been released in this event would have been silly.

They all try to conflate the issue with irrelevant details like "it doesn't matter earrings" or "the devs are free to do w.e they want despite community opinion."

In the end, they all know that they don't deserve it, they don't want to admit it because they don't want anyone to have anything that resembles a status symbol because it makes them feel bad. Makes me sad. :*(**

You can invert this argument to pretty much be "It only matters to people because they want to hold the status symbol over others heads to prove how dedicated they are."

"Gawsh, Im so good. I was here in 1.0 doing the hardest content in the game. Im a true hardcore ffxiv fan! Git gud pleb!"

All the while not realizing that the symbol means less because of the fact discontinued content means no one can even attempt the feat. It becomes more of a point of who happened to be playing an iteration of the game that was widely lauded as being terrible. In that light, it smacks of elitism.

The earrings becoming an event item is a non issue if the whole point was that those who participated in it did it. They have memories of it. It was their own personal accomplishment. And thats what should matter. The earrings are, for all intensive purposes, bragging rights from a version of the game long since discontinued. It's nothing but internet hotdog measuring at this point.

This is good. It's like if SE suddenly decide to manufacture more Odin statues (with the emote) but then complaining that suddenly more people have the chance to get access to it as well. Mentality is essentially if no one has the chance to get it the original way, then no one should have it at all!

Being proud of an accomplishment is one thing, but denying other people the same opportunity is just wrong.
