The thing I ask the thread is this...

How long do new people have to wait to get items that are 3, 4 or 5 years old? What if the content that those items comes from doesn't exsist anymore? Do people that own such trophy items actually glamour them a lot or only sometimes or not at all?

I do not have the earrings, but I have other items that were exclusive to those days, and I am not covetous of those items I did not get nor am I willing to have my own items put on the mogstation (the legacy tattoo which I always wear, the legacy chocobo I ride on occassion). It feels ridiculous that for what the Rising is supposed to represent, there are those that want to turn it into a excercise of player mockery and corporate manipulation.

It is not a decision I support, especially after they went on record saying that the items are exclusive to the seventh umbral era event. say what you will about companies not being your friend or the need to get a buck, this is wrong to me as a person that invested in the legacy campaign. Loyalty and effort is being put on sale here, and I find it just as disrespectful as puttung a raid tier item on sale.


And again, this can be easily fixed with a different item, or making this item a replica. don't tell me this was the only thing ps4 limitations(or whatever the current problem is) will allow.

I agree with you that it's disrespectful, but it's the same line we were given about the moogle outfit from the first fanfest - that it was exclusive to those who supported that fanfest. We saw how that went. Edited just enough to bring in more money in the long run and slapped right up on the cash shop, and I've pretty much made up my mind not to buy into the next fanfest because of how we were treated. My trust in SE is gone. I play this game because I like it better than most other things on the market today, but this is a complaint that I have about the general direction this game seems to be headed, not just about exclusives.

IMO, SE have proven time and time again through repeatedly adding inventory for real money transactions that they aren't that limited by the game, hardware, whatever. But it does come down to what they want to do and they seem to have made their decision.

You mean the part where it's celebrating FFXIV's past and future and a bunch of 1.0 players are clutching their pearls and screaming bloody murder over new players obtaining a pair of unremarkable earrings because it has been revealed they're not actually the center of the universe like they had thought?

You are really full of yourself I must say, after reading this entire thread and seeing you argue with other players. We are not full of ourselves, we have no title like today's Ultimate clearers, just those earrings, which SE has now taken away from us after making the event in 1.0 a limited time thing since the servers were going down and that fight would never be brought back into the game. Their words to us back then. We are more upset over what to us looks like a promise broken than anything. They weren't unremarkable in 1.0 genius, just look their original stats up. They were considered BIS in that time. The stats were only changed to nothing remarkable for ARR.

"Never" seems fine to me, but it has to be consistent, which FFXIV isn't. White Ravens was an abnormality.
In Path of Exile, there are a lot of "glamour"/housing items available for a limited time, and in particular season-specific rewards, and nobody think about complaining that it can no longer be obtained. Because it works this way.
Adapted to FFXIV, it would be something like : players who won Bahamut/Alexander/Omega raids before their official obsolescence (adding of echo) earn a special reward, like the white raven.

RuneScape does the same. Miss the seasonal event? Well tough bananas, it ain't ever coming back. Although I'm partially glad we can get them off the mog station because it means I could get my friend the dote emote, at the same time, it can cause complications. But honestly, in my eyes, even though I never played 1.0, keep 1.0 items exclusive. These are people that supported the game when it was on its knees and almost killed the company. Let them keep their exclusive rewards.
