This is interesting. Since I live in Puerto Rico, one of the Caribbean islands, Limsa Lominsa fits just perfectly. It will be icing on the cake if we had structures similar to Limsa. And now that I think about it, another place that resembles Limsa is, correct me if I’m wrong, Santorini in Greece. There white buildings, which is characteristic of Santorini , is similar to the structures in Limsa like the Aftcastle and it’s avenues.
Culturally, I would be from Doma.
Geographically, somewhere in the southern reaches of the Ruby Sea, but still within Confederate territory.
Eureka, it's an island lots of people end up on for lots of reasons but no-one really wants to be here or stomach that long. But it is beautiful.
Garlemald.
The commitment to being a global force for a higher purpose, the habit of fighting wars abroad with a powerful military, and a mix of understanding of other cultures that tilts back and forth from a melting pot that helps in some ways and hurts in others.
A mix of America and Russia.
Even with Zenos's safari adventure, I'm not opposed to the choice of switching sides, Eorzea always feels like its hanging on by a thread anyway, and there must be some people that see it like a home worth fighting for if so many enlist.

The "New World" is indeed the Americas. As well as the 'native American' costume, it fits all the other lore about it - far to the west ofEuropeEorzea, first discovered byVikingsSea Wolves, also noted as the origin of several foods that in the real world are native to the Americas: pumpkins, tomatoes, potatoes and avocadoes.
We haven't seen a map so can't know how similar the geography is, but the Mamool Ja don't wear anything like the New World costume (as far as I can remember), so we can guess there are multiple cultures there? Most likely still separate "North America" and "South America" regions, at least. The lorebook says there are Midlanders living there as well.
I'm not sure about the Meracydia = Australia comparison. I think it's more likely to be Africa (or southern Africa, if northern Africa is Thanalan). Or could be the two mashed together, I guess.
We don't know much about it - and the lorebook is deliberately vague - but to my awareness the one plant noted as being from there is sesame, which is native to Africa and India. (Edit: and aloe, native to Africa and the Arabian peninsula.)
Does anyone know if the descriptions for the koala and frill-necked lizard minions says anything about where they come from?

I disagree that the New World is America, or at the least, having a country that resembles modern America.
Indigenous America was quite a different ballgame from the country that we have today. And we know very little about the lore of the New World, to the point that some believe it to be the New World of MHW. All the same, if they just slapped together a microcosm of Wild West America with a few Allagan bits in the place I don't think I'd believe it.

None of the places represent modern anything. Despite the technology, the Garleans represent the Romans. Although for their day, the Roman were quite advanced. Their concrete was insane, which puts most modern structures to shame.I disagree that the New World is America, or at the least, having a country that resembles modern America.
