You could be right that im remembering it wrong, ill have to go back and look at some cutscenes. If only saying Moose's name would summon him to boards other then Lore. But i remember one more prominent Ala Mhigan amongst the braves(who i thought we recruited, but i guess i could be wrong). That being Ilberd. We didn't recruit Ilberd. We first met him when the Braves had been organised and we were handing out their uniforms.

I checked his first quest dialogue (from "Brave New Companions"):

I don't believe we've met. I am Ilberd, and I will have the honor of leading my fellow recruits as captain. Much did I lose to the Calamity, and I look forward to aiding others in rebuilding their lives.
The uniforms are a shrewd decision. There is no easier method of creating a common bond among what is, essentially, a band of strangers.
I was barely more than a refugee myself for a time, and I know what it is to be without hope. I shall do my utmost to see this company succeed...

Fair enough, we werent the one to bring him into the fold. Its been a couple years since i did those quests and the exact details arent as sharp as they could be. I know im not wrong that he was in on the betrayal though.

I think, by and large, I had the same reaction to Ala Mhigo as you, Frizze. What didn't help in my case was rattling through the MSQ non-stop from ARR (Toto-Rak, or thereabouts, which was where my main got up to the first (or was it second?) time I tried playing this game) to patch 4.2. Even worse was being absolutely invested in/floored by/heartbroken by/heart-all-made-up-again with Heavensward and the Dragonsong to the point I think I actually resented going to that brown-orange meh wasteland, when all I wanted to do was set up residence permanently in Ishgard and never, ever leave. I hated Ala Mhigo utterly. I only came around (a bit) to Stormblood by the Azim Steppe (I would have that place as my second home, #IfyoudontbehaveIllbeyourNhaamayouidiot), and Doma certainly helped, but then they made me go back to the brown-orange meh and I was angry again.

I still don't like the Gyr Abania, but I just try to ignore it when I'm there, and think of Ishgard instead.

In respect to you, OP! Try another job. May take a while to level it, but consider it a break from the story that's bugging you. Use the healer in dungeons (keeping on top of its levels/gear/whatnot), and use another class/job, I don't know, more interesting (? Sorry, healers. I'm just a heathen, I know) for the rest of it. Can't promise it makes it any better, but at least it won't be Stone-Stone-Stone-whatever-else-it-is-healers-do.
