After clicking 'via email' it should use your default email app. If you don't have one or you have some sort of pop-up blocker, it might not allow it to operate correctly. The code itself is valid, so you should be able to use it even without an email. Please be aware that the code can only be generated every 3 hours, so if you have navigated away from that page, you may need to wait until it gives you another.
