[Companion App] Feedback Thread

I just thought about being able to maintain your FC or House garden so you can tend to the plants, avoiding to let them rot!

Wishlist/Feedback:
- please add the forum to the app
- add the ability to talk to people in-game. At least ls and FC.
- let us change our gear and glamour
- add the library with lore text to the app and later to the game
- Add the moogle station to the app.

These are a few wishes that would make the app so much better in my opinion. Overall, I like the design of the app. Everything looks nice visually. But the app lacks features imo. The best feature currently is the calendar.

I was so ready to give the companion app premium a try. $5 to try out the features and see if it was worth it doesn't seem like too much to me. So today I logged in to purchase my 30 days. And that is where I found the glaring issue. I subscribe to xiv for 180 days at a time. I pretty much have since the beginning... I DO NOT want to subscribe to the companion app in the same way. Based on prorated cost I would have to pay $21 for the companion app... Which is way more then I want to spend to test it out.

I also wanted the option to not pay for it during certain months, such as the end of a patch cycle when i'm barely playing the game....

I'd like for the app to able to notify me when my duty finder queue pops, so I don't have to worry about getting up from my seat.

I agree on some users here on linking the app to the lodestone forum and or the FFXIV webpage, so that we can enjoy reading posts from the app itself rather than from the web browser in our phone which may takes time to load. Maybe a link access to Mogstation for our account management/ mogshop purchase would be great too.

Better group chat feature - Something similar to Discord would be great.

So, when designing a companion app for an MMORPG, design question #1 should be: "What are the most common transactions our customers perform when signing on for 10 minutes or less?"

From this point of view, I am afraid that the companion app is a complete fail for me, and after paying for a month of premium service just to see what it was like, I'll be cutting the subscription and uninstalling the app.

Why?
(1) Retainers. That is the #1 reason I sign in for short periods. In spite of comments up the thread, I am subscribed to the premium service and I CANNOT MANAGE MY RETAINERS IN THE APP. This, in my mind, is the unforgivable sin that will make me keep my money.
(2) As someone mentioned above, my company squadron. I'd totally forgotten about them, but yes, they're another "quick transaction" I do all the time.
(3) Grand Company turn-ins. Every day I sign on for 5 minutes just to turn in my gatherer items.

Other than that, I perform no short-term transactions, and everyone in my free company is available via text/IM, so there's no need for a separate app for that.

So, for those of you wondering whether to pay for the premium app to get access to your retainers, DON'T. You don't get access to your retainers even if you pay. And as I said, that's why I'll be uninstalling the app at the end of the month.

I am using this. It helps to just list random stuff in the MB when you're in the toilet. But that's as far as it's usefulness for me goes and I subscribed to premium to support the app. It needs more features! While chatting, events, and calendar is all good, it needs more interaction with the game.

1: Please allow us to send retainers on ventures. This should have been included at launch, yet it is not there. If you market the app for people who can't stay online as much as other people, then being able to send retainers on ventures should be TOP feature. As well as any other interaction with retainers with the exception retainer fantasia.

2: FC, LS chat interaction, friends PM. Why wasn't included as well? Should've been there from the start... SMH

3: Squadron interaction. While not top priority, we should be able to send them to missions and training from the app.

4: Triple triad and other mini-games with real players using the app. This is not hard to do, FF Portal App already has Triple Triad. Our cards should be the same ones we have in-game. No micro-transaction shenanigans please.

5: All of the above should be doable while we are logged in-game. That way we don't have to stop what we are doing simple because CatGirl Retainer#5 finished a venture. While waiting for an NM to spawn, play Triple Triad on the phone. Possibilities are endless.

I have other things to talk about the app but these are my main concerns. I love the concept and I love the idea of where this might go, but as of now, it is simple just bare bones.

A lot of people here make very good points, and there is one thing I want to add. When moving items between my disorganized mess of a retainer fleet, it would help if:

1. When looking to move an item, I would like to be able to search for that item to see where else it is in my expanded inventory.

2. If I am moving a stackable item to another retainer/saddlebag that has that item, I would like the option to merge the stacks. If that does not work, then I would still like the option to merge stacks of the same item when they are in the same inventory.

Sooo...the description of the App says it's Android 5.0+
Why can't I even find the App in the Play Store with Android 7.0 but have to go there from the Lodestone entry. And why the heck is an Android 7.0 device not compatible with the app so I can't even download it?
