    I don't think they will do that anyway. We can already see with the companion app that they crave for money. So this is basically doing less money right? So no worth?
    More seriously I don't think they will do it, or i hope not at least. I don't want them to think something like "hey let's make it F2P since our F2P mobile games are making more money that all our MMO additioned".

    That'd depend on how they go about it. If they copy the system WoW uses, it'd involve player A buying a subscription token, player B using gil to buy it off player A, and redeeming it to add a month of playtime to their account.

    The catch being, at least what it is in WoW, is the token costing $20, while a normal month costs $15.

    It makes a lot of sense and brings value into the game as well. Players who have more money then time can enjoy the game the way they want, and players with more time then money can choose if it's worth the price to trade their gil for game time.

    No player would be inconvenienced because no one is required to use it. If anything it would make more people participate in the market and keep that gil flowing instead of being hoarded now that gil wouldn't be worthless.

    Sub token is not f2p and they don't lose money, the tokens aren't generated out of thin air. A player has to buy a token with real money and sell it to you for gil, SE makes money out of the token sale from player A, usually a bit more than they would've made with your sub.

    So player A could buy a token for $20, lists it in the market, you buy it with gil and gain 30 days of playtime. SE makes $20 instead of $15, no gil is generated by bots as it's just players passing around money, and it's one less person funding RMT bots.

    Instead of Crysta I could see them tying gil to the mobile app currency and then enabling purchases from the Mog Station for exorbitant amounts of gil. I'm sure it would even be hailed as something great since those people with large amounts of gil could then buy their glam gear and probably subscriptions using in game currency converted to crysta/kupo nuts/moogle coins. Then comes the slippery slope when they start adding more and more to the Mog Station until the eventual pay to win item or whatever makes its way to the game. It would also turn this game into a second job for some if they added the ability to pay for your sub with gil. I guess by all means go for it since it wouldn't be affecting me by that point since I'll have long unsubbed.
