Any update on Gil for Crysta? [WOW Gold for Subscription Model in FFXIV]

Several years ago when WOW introduced their subscription token, Yoshi-P was asked about it for FFXIV. He said that they are watching how it works in WOW and would bring it over into FFXIV if ether players wanted it, or if it was successful.

It's been several years, and I think it's been a success, not just at giving Gil more of a reason for existing, but also in crushing RMT activities, and more. They might still exist, but not at the levels we see them in FFXIV and more.

The question is, is there any update on this from Yoshi-P? We already have a currency Crysta that can pay for our sub time, so it would be great if there was a way for the market to allow for this, and that crysta would be used for more things then just sub-time. I think the obvious hurdle is that you would need the store to be in the game, rather than just on the website.

if they handled it like in WoW, where the prices for the token to player transactions werent set by the players, instead by demand. then why not add this to the game?

Its not like you are making it f2p by any means and it would give some importance to gil instead of having gil be your "House money if one ever opens up and someone doesent relocate oh god" fund

It makes a lot of sense and brings value into the game as well. Players who have more money then time can enjoy the game the way they want, and players with more time then money can choose if it's worth the price to trade their gil for game time.

Still waiting for it here. If they ever introduce this, it would pretty much fix some of my biggest complaints about the game.

Odd, every game I've played, WoW included, with a "gold" for game time system still has RMT running amok.

But no, haven't heard or read a word about it coming to ffxiv.

You can't kill bots, but you can reduce their impact by removing a big chunk of their customers.
