I tend to prefer things that evolve around you as you grown and progress through the game. As the currant system is any feelings of accomplishment and time well spent invested are quickly thrown out the window when a new expansion comes out and all my hard work and time are tossed in the bank to collect dust the moment I pick up a MSQ item with a higher item level then the relic. It leads to very real "why bother" feelings when the new expansions relic is announced. I like evolving things that are always growing with you. Just because to me it means that my hard work and feelings of accomplishment don't feel wasted. Since in some form all the hard work in the past is still with me as things evolve to new stages.

Personally putting relic with Eureka was very disappointing. I did do a few on the past expansions. Purely for glamour.

It was fine. And I understood the idea. A way of making older content still relevant, helping with queues to who was levelling. Don’t get me wrong, very long, it was a grind, but for me it was fine. It could be better but at the end when I got the relics I felt a sense of accomplishment and I did enjoy “the path to get there”.

I tried Eureka, I really tried. But like many here I do have full time job, limited time to play. I can’t spend my limited time playing something I really don’t like. So I already made my peace with it. For me Stormblood no relics. Not going to even try the new one as many of you say it’s even worse and you do need to have a certain level from Eureka.

So yes for me Stormblood has 1 less piece of content that I enjoyed in other expansions, but not on this one.

I'm done with Pagos. It took a week. Totally understand if you don't like it - I'm OK with it.

Ripping the player base apart... really though? It was made intentionally for people who complained about Titan HM, people who complained about the crafting/desynth requirements, people who complained about grinding old content.

I think the only thing we could take from it is that everyone has a different idea of what they fun/easy/challenging/worth their time etc.

For example: I can see with all the perceived backlash that the next relic would be jumping puzzles and mindless Fed-EX talky/teleport chain quests. Which I would hate. So, there you go... horses for courses.

my favorite relic step was the beginning bits of the first relic

It actually kind of felt like you were on some epic quest to restore some lost legendary weapon

Back to the beginning of how ARR weapons were (fighting Primals, etc..) but i do feel like they can take on some elements of later Relics along with some Lore would be great.
And also a big thing is to actually bring out Relic weapons earlier on in a expansion and not late like how Stormblood has been.

No more light and doing fates nonsense would be what i would like.

I'd prefer the way they did it in HW. It was more fun to me.

I personally wouldn't mind if we had to do something similar to the relic steps back at ARR launch. Then again, I'm in the minority when it comes to harder content, so basically anything else aside from Eureka. Hell, I'll take light farming every for every relic step until my eyes bleed, over doing anything in Eureka.

I think HW, aside from unidentified pre-nerf, was a good balance in terms of grind and difficulty (since we got to choose the content, which would make progression go faster/slower depending on what you did).

So max ilvl weapons come in several categories:

Raid Weapons: Highest skill, moderate time (hard core)
Relic Weapons: Lowest skill, longest grind over several patches (casual, but huge time sink)
Tome Weapons: Moderate skill, moderate-long time (gated behind 7 weeks of "Normal Mode" final bosses, plus an item to augment)

So there's 3 methods of getting the highest ilvl weapons, depending on a balance of time, RNG, and skill. That said, the Relic quest is meant to be the easiest but take a long period of grinding, but it's easy (Dungeons, lights, quests) as opposed to skill required to beat the final raid tier and getting a direct drop or a page for redeeming. So with that in mind, relic quests should be easy albeit grindy. HW had great flexibility with regards to how you chose to acquire the upgrade materials, however.

Something challenging to prove your merit. A series of solo instance dungeons or something to help drive the story and immerse yourself into why this weapon exists, why you're recreating it now, who used it in the past. (Am I the only one who thought the Zodiak Braves or the Darklight Raiders, etc. were the coolest thing?)

I'm tired of paying of Gerolts bar tab. Let's get some real lore in here.
Absolutely this. I loved how the ARR relic started a story that really could have been so much more. Instead, it turned into Gerolt talent showcase. I don't mind him having the talent to recreate the weapons, but more emphasis on the weapons' histories rather than a focus on him would be great. It's like Seiken Densetsu placing a focus on the Watts instead of the Sword of Mana.

That aside, I hope they return to the relics not being tied to a place wholly annexed from the rest of the game. I can stand the tedious grind relic was in ARR and HW because I could still mostly run it with "current" content (older dungeons aside, it was up to me on how I wanted to go about light gathering, sand gathering, etc). I also don't get why the relic has to be so far behind raid weapons. We have a bunch of patches in between each raid tier. Just release the relic weapon increments sooner, so raid weapons stay top for a majority of the time they are out, but relic catches up just before the next tier.

I was writing ARR and Hw before but then i remembered Atmas and the other stuff you had to grind with fates. HW had a better balance and better ways to get the required materials.
