The extra saddlebag is a big deal too.
The extra saddlebag is a big deal too.
No, it is free and there is a monthly premium which gives you an extra retainer, an extra saddlebag, and, most "importantly" an extra kupo-nut per day so you can make TWO instead of ONE purchase/sale of the MB per day. Whoopwhoop! For further usage of AH microtransactions seems to be required. Hopefully it will change in the future to save face, but you never know.
Learn, explore, and think for yourself. Make your choices, take actions, and let yourself be free.
I would like to think that our subscription should be enough to pay for everything.
The fact that the Kupo nuts are capped at 2 (10 for premium. . . ) and the Kupo coins aren't capped at all just show how bad this app is and how greedy SE is.
White Knights: "It's not pay to win, wait until it comes out before you judge". . .

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
It doesn't have AH functionality - it does let you check your gear and send out NPCs on their version of Squadron missions, as well as check to see what World Quests are up. The Remote AH, as it was known, was retired earlier this year...and while it was free, it didn't start that way, running about $3 a month for the first couple years it existed. During that time, you had no option to access the market for anything except paying the extra fee (unlike here, where you have the highly limited but still free access).
I'm not pleased that they've got the premium currency as a thing in the first place in something like this, and certainly not happy that the saddlebag increase requires the monthly fee...
But I think labeling it pay to win way oversells the advantage. You can pay about 20 cents to list an item or update its price from anywhere...and be undercut in minutes by someone in the game. You payout another 20 cents worth of coin to do it again...and they undercut you 10 minutes later for free. Repeat ad nauseum. Keep it up and you've spent 20 bucks to either still be undercut, or to maybe sell your item a few minutes/hours faster.
So sure, someone could use this to try and win undercutting wars and all that, but I think they'd be pretty foolish to try.
Though how does the cliché go? A fool and his money are soon parted?
Think about it like this - every time you undercut someone while in the game, you may just be screwing over someone's 20 cents. It may be a bit mean, but that brings a smile to my face.

There is only one fix, NO MICROTRANACTIONS in a sub base model, or remove the sub fee completely and admit you are putting F2P model in a sub model. It is plain ridiculous of the double dipping and also ridiculous people are trying to "meet half way" that is how they win. So until they stop the overuse with crash grabbyness I am not going to use the app at all.I see a lot of people who complains about the kuponut/coin payment for the usage of the MB in the app, and while I do understand why it is there I do agree that it is a little too steep. My suggestion is to instead of one kupo-nut giving one transaction it should give the player 1h access to doing MB transactions. By doing this you make it realistic for people to use the app to handle their MB needs while they are at breaks at school or at work while still forcing people who are looking to use it all the time as a substitute to log into the game to pay up money for further usage.
This system would also make it feel worthwhile for people to both sub for the extra kupo-nut per day, but also to buy further usages for when they are on trips, etc as it would offer them better value for their money.

I wont be using it since I can remote play for free... but the one thing I HAD hoped for.. was that I could work with my inv anywhere.. issue is. I cant even do that unless I am logged out. So pointless.
So, I did check this app out ... and rn as it is ... it isn't worth the install.
You can do very little with it ATM in regards to retainers. The most you can do is sell and buy. Aaaand ... that's it. The Premium isn't even out yet.
The prices for the mog coins are comparable in my part of the world (starting at .99 USD) and you get 5 mog coins. Adding that with the ONE kupo nut for a log in EACH DAY ... nah.
If you are a person who very occasionally sells things or wants to keep an eye for an item you want to go down in price, then snag it up while you are at work ... it's okay. For those who are avid crafters, or sellers looking to make coin in game? Just log into the game and do it there.
I will be a guinea pig once the Premium comes out to let you know if the price for that is worth paying for.
