Arguments need to be left at the door - though civil debate is fine.

What I think we'd all actually like right now, though, is... you know, a legitimate response from SE in some capacity on here. Even just a "we've heard of this and are investigating/pushing it to those who can figure it out" would suffice. People are worried and the longer this goes unspoken of, the worse it will get.

This is all I will say on the demolition timer length. I also agree 45 days is too short. Sometimes I'm busy or want to play another game or several other games even between major patches so I don't have time to play XIV or use my house during that time, but I KNOW I will be more active on XIV when the next major patch hits and then WILL be doing so.

So I have to stay subbed mainly JUST to keep my house up (doing other things like beast tribes or other small things to at least make my sub more worthwhile) because why should I lose it just because I'm taking a pause in my activity between major patches? Hamada has the right of it, because the 45 day timer means if you take a break during the patch lull you'll lose your plot. It should be doubled to 90 days. It is the middle option for a subscription period, and it is the perfect amount of time between major patches without it being too long. That is when you consider that you will be playing through the content of the new patch, and within 90 days of you finishing that you will have the next wave of content to resub for, and so it goes on.

I have been subbed to the game almost constantly since 2.4, with my longest break only being 3 months and it was after I finished what the base SB expansion had to offer because I didn't have a plot to keep up at the time since I had moved to a new server. I'm an active player because I am here on this game for every major patch. It would be nice if I could unsub during content lulls to save some money without the worry of losing my plot. If you think I should lose it just because I'm not putting up with a content lull that really isn't fair, when I'm active I'm using the plot every day. Every. Day. And I know many players are the same.

But I suppose that is one reason for SE to keep the timer at 45 days, because people will sub to keep their plots up during their breaks. But let's be honest - any player who wants to keep their plot, like me, is going to do what is necessary to keep it after the work they put into getting it and decorating it.

Having the timer as short as 45 days simply makes it more inconvenient and overly punishing. 90 days is the sweet spot, I don't think it's even debatable when you consider the points I have just made. But I'd rather the thread stay on topic, just wanted to voice my opinion since it was brought up.

What you are doing is provoking fights and causing drama, stop it.

That quote is before housing was added (5 years ago) and policy change. Deal with it.

Someone brought up the 45 days and people comment their stance on it? They are not provoking, it's called discussing. I also think 45 is plenty time. By design housing is limited and if you not playing anymore you shouldn't keep your house, people already scream and kick about housing.

Until we get instanced housing they should keep 45 days policy.

I swear the for/against demo timer debate is FF14 housing's very own version of Godwin's law; the longer a discussion about housing continues, the probability of an argument over the demo timer approaches 1.

This was a discussion about the demo timer to begin with, though? specifically how much it's apparently bugged right now...

There is a big difference between a discussing a possible bug in the housing system and hotly debating if we should have the demo timer or not/how the demo timer should work.

If this is in fact true and a bug of some sorts, why no posts about it in the technical help forum?!?

Per many of the posters on Reddit, some of them are banned from the official forums (due to unrelated issues)and are unable to make posts to report bugs.

Which.... seems like a huge issue, paying customers should always be able to report bugs. Never really thought about that, but SE really ought to have an online only bug report form instead of asking people to go wholly through the forums. Or a ban is simply a ban from all sections but technical help.

Anyway, the SE representative who hangs out on Reddit is currently engaged with those folks and trying to help them, so at least they aren't being completely ignored.

Plus, one of the people who gave his account has been banned from the forums.

    Per iShirozaki/Voran:
Screenshot evidence on July 15 2018 of his character inside of the FC house.
House was demolished on August 7 2018. Right before, during, or just after maintenance as they played on patch day and found their gil/items at the NPC with nearly full timer allocated towards retrieving the items.
Their sub is always current and they typically go inside the house but recently have not moved or removed any furnishings, except for changing the exterior (retainer) but not anything inside recently besides the retainer.

They still had house teleport August 4 2018 but the main point is that they supposedly have the screenshot evidence to show they were in the house on July 15 2018 so they were well within 30 days let alone 45 days.

Never got a response from the so-called "SE responded and acknowledged that I had used my housing appropriately so as to avoid demolition, but that my house was demolished anyways and that I could collect my belongings and 80% of the purchase price of my plot from the Resident Caretaker." when I asked them twice to provide this proof and they were definitely on since I've asked them.

Just poking into the dark, has housing demolition only affected certain data centres? I have seen Primal discuss this, but I'm unsure if I've seen Aether yet, or Chaos for that matter.

I admit I have been out of the loop and I could be wrong, but Leviathan and Hyperion have been effected, both are Primal worlds as well.
