Newer player looking for tips on Gil!

Currently have a level 61 Scholar and was curious how people actually make notable sums of Gil. I RP and am at a point where making some Gil for an establishment is important! Talking about it ICly does me no good if I OOCly have no idea how to go about it though. LOL

Any advice would be appreciated. I know routletes give a good amount a day, but I was wondering if there were better ways of grinding it out. Thank for anyone willing to take the time!

Treasure Maps, you can do solo ones, or get a light party together to farm Dragonskin maps. Pick up a crafting or gathering job. I found gathering easiest to make gil on. You don't have to worry about your material costs or getting a million different mats like with crafters. You just look on the MB, find something that sells and go get it. Also you can then gather your own treasure maps instead of risking losing gil by buying them off the MB. Farming minions from certain dungeons works as well, but unless you get a speedrun party together it's often more trouble than it's worth.

Level up your retainers and utilize them to fill gaps on the market board for some easy slowburn cash.

I'm guessing since you need the money for an establishment you'll be decorating as well? Might be a good idea to invest in crafting/gatherering too. That can take gil and time to start up, but I've found it to be worth it in the long haul (you're able to be self-sufficient to a degree).

I honestly wasn't even aware you could level up your retainer. I thought they were gloried banks. LOL. I'll definitely have to research that and make it work for me. Thank you for that advice!

As for like gathering and stuff... Can you find maps from fishing? Or does it need to be from particular ones?

    1. Treasure Maps [to a degree, if they are too expensive for the average market value drop don't bother]
    2. Gathering low level items that have some value - simple crafts and shards/crystals
    3. Weekly logs have some - not lots.
    4. In demand roulette roles - if you plan on levelling anyway. You can get free company seals and materia to sell on the MB
    5. Vendor items that are easy to flip for a decent profit.
    6. If you are looking to get certain weapons/levels - Heaven on High, palace of the Dead, Eureka etc. have their own loot system that drop items that can make money.

People are not going to tell you their best ways to make gil, because it's how they do it, especially for noobs its difficult but not impossible.

By the way, treasure maps tend to drop based on level of the zone, so the Heavensward ones drop in those zones etc. If you have any specific goals, like levelling alt jobs or crafting etc, then you will naturally make gil as you go along from drops and produced/gathered items naturally. Just price reasonably.
