Not condescending or being sarcastic I mean it.



"Apologies if you felt offended" means little, it's not a true apology. The correct apology someone could make would be "Sorry I offended you" as those kinds of apologies actually accepts the blame to a mistake that someone could be sorry for. The one you made puts the blame on the one you are supposed to be apologizing to.
My husband's first language isn't English either, and he has stated many times that English has certain intricacies that other languages don't have. I have tried to explain some of these, like the one above, and about the different forms of criticism.
