That was posted before the reassessment of merger. That option 4 would be a disaster. That's why either a reassessment should be made, what ended happening, or they should scrap the merger. Plus, from the looks Of it, lots of people are coming back. Yoshi said midgar something from past final fantasies and I bet your server got 100 more people just because of that word. still, option 2, sounds fair, since us that have a somehow ok server population will remain as it is, and the people that haven't being happy for the lack of people, will get a chance to choose where to go.

I beg to differ - I made a character on a vacant slot a few weeks ago on the "low population" 1 chocobo servers, Fabul and Kashuan, and after researching with the search utility they had 280 and 300 players respectively. Palamecia sits on about 160ish players at a given time - which is odd because it's a 2 chocobo server right in the middle, according to the server select screen. It must go by registered characters as opposed to players on right that second. They should fix that after the server mergers.

lol I can assure you I have ZERO people on my B-list. We have just always been the least populated server, even since release. I started putting sunglasses on dodo's and dressing up the coblyns in shields and paragon crowns just to make it look like more people are out and about.

Like the title says, it will benefit few and will mess up the lives of everyone else. Like yoshi said, the servers are paid for. Why not wait 10 more months when 2.0 hits and then the new influx of players will balance population again. 10 measly months! We waited more than a year! I'm sorry for the 30% that want server merges, but the way it's being done, it's better scrap it out and let 2.0 and ps3 balance it all. You will need to add servers again when 2.0 hits. This do and undo, will just cOntribute to more players leaving.

You say it will benefit "few" yet, based upon the lack of "likes" on your OP, the MAJORITY of the forum posters see the server merger as an all around benefit.

You say it "will mess up the lives of players" yet with the new server merger modality (server A+B = new server 1) I don't see how anyone's life will get messed up by this seeing as communities will not only be preserved, but increased in size of it's members.

You say that only "30 %" of the players want Server Merger yet, judging by the "10 likes" on your post and the "20 likes" on the post following your OP (at the time this was written) it looks to me like your math is wrong. Let me fix it for you:
(20/30) x100 = 66.67% of the players that bother voicing their opinions on the official forums support the Server Mergers.

And lastly, you claim that "this will contribute to more players leaving" yet, Judging by the majority vote, the opposite is true. Server Mergers will create a greater sense of community, allow players to form new bonds and friendships, meet new linkshells and players and all of this will contribute to a greater percentage of players sticking around.

To sum it up: Your entire OP is false, inaccurate, somewhat mystical in it's futuristic predictions and completely ignorant.
