No thanks, I actually am looking forward to having more people to play with regardless of the method they use.

that's exactly my feeling. i may think this is not the best way it could have been handled, but having more than 50-60 english speaking players on during na primetime will be fantastic.

The merge is a great thing for the smaller servers, no we should not wait.
You shouldn't put something that's needed in the 'too hard basket' just because people are contesting the manner in which is may be done.
Don't forget that with each patch, more people will come back, start with ffxiv. Those servers with few players, will definitely get more people. Looks like a long time, but 6-10 months goes fast. Keeping your char/retainers's names, friends, server name, for the majority have no price..

the problem is that the smaller servers are just continuing to drop in population. it's to the point on karnak that it is a chore just to get enough people together to do even a moogle party. the 6-10 months go fast when you are having fun, but having nothing to do daily besides work towards luminary tools is not my idea of fun.Don't forget that with each patch, more people will come back, start with ffxiv. i know of a few people that will be coming back, but i also know alot of the people that got digital copies that has their free trial expiring and those people will be leaving. keeping 50-60 english speaking players during even peak times that are ranked from rank 1-50 is not enough a population to keep the people willing to pay for the game here. the majority of us had already started discussing how long we were going to give them to merge before we left and moved to other games as groups.
if the smaller servers hadn't gotten a server merge there would be no use to do it in 6-10 months because the ps3 players would have had completely empty servers to join when all the original players had already left.

That's why it would be much easier if they came up with a server transfer for players that are into the lower populated servers. Only for them. Only for those that want. Because its more fair. And it will make everyone happy.the problem is that the smaller servers are just continuing to drop in population. it's to the point on karnak that it is a chore just to get enough people together to do even a moogle party. the 6-10 months go fast when you are having fun, but having nothing to do daily besides work towards luminary tools is not my idea of fun.

that i would have been completely happy with also.
it's just hard to play a mmo when you are one of 15-20 r50 char on at a time and try to get a party together to find out that 10 of those are afk and a few more are busy. i do feel sorry for the larger servers that are getting split up in this process though.
i'm one that would have loved to just have the basic large server merge with a small one and then the whole server got moved active and inactive players. it would have kept the big and small servers where when people came back they could rejoin the people they knew. if they wanted to give an optional transfer after the forced move so people could join the jp or eu server or even move to or away from the rp server they had that one time option to do so.
my point is not to argue, but more of the server merge was needed. it is understandable that people, like me, on small servers should have needed to move. it just seems to be a bit of overkill to force the larger servers to do the same and lose contact with people taking breaks.

Your ideology is dangerous. My god, I hope this thread gets /closed instead of /considered.Don't forget that with each patch, more people will come back, start with ffxiv. My server sits around 160 people on average, that's enough of a red flag right there. I'm not saying you're can't have an opinion, but to make a thread like this when the clear consensus vehemently disagrees with you... just, wow. I didn't think anybody could be this far off after reading the newly updated merge plan posted by Mr. Yoshida.
I know we can't all agree but this kind of extreme carelessness for others is threatening.

I do believe I helped suggest the Excalibur server name! http://forum.square-enix.com

That was posted before the reassessment of merger. That option 4 would be a disaster. That's why either a reassessment should be made, what ended happening, or they should scrap the merger. Plus, from the looks Of it, lots of people are coming back. Yoshi said midgar something from past final fantasies and I bet your server got 100 more people just because of that word.Your ideology is dangerous. You just changed around what you've been saying all along right there... and I just posted on my server numbers so, I don't see any surge of returnees like you keep forecasting. That was posted before the reassessment of merger.
