SE, please designate a Role Play friendly server!

Never said there was anything wrong with it being unofficial, just a little more helpful to have an official tag to draw the eye of prospective new players.

My post wasn't directed at you in particular Thev, it was aimed like a shotgun, at everyone in it's path =D

well you werent the first to say that and a few others have aimed it at me

and the problem is, any kind of tag SE can put on it, would actualy make it "official" which is something some people wont understand

anyone who cares about roleplaying will find out where to go before they choose a server in any game anyway, so just make sure that advertisement as to where roleplayers are is out there, and that should be enough


and as i said, if they do make a tagged server for it, just as with the EU server, they need to start the server fresh and give people the option to go to it as a choice, and not label it an already established server, while the roleplayers may not mind, since they of course would get what they want, theyd piss off all the people who do not want that, whereas a new server satisfied both crowds request(anyone who argues that the roleplayers would have to leave friends or split, well, thats unfortunately a choice you gotta make, youd still have a server, and its your choice wether to use it or not from there)

See, I don't buy this. I mean I understand there are some obvious over reactions from both sides here...needless to say the opinions expressed by everyone here do NOT necessarily express the opinions of ANY one community as a whole. But to chalk it all up as a joke, and to turn the tables like this at the last moment just seems like a silly attempt to save face.

Wile your absolutely right in a lot of what you've expressed. Spammers are annoying, everyone has a right to their opinion and both sides are guilty of not listening to the other...its as I said, silly to just chalk it all up as a harmless joke with a slap on the back and a good chuckle. You were trolling...in that you were posting with the intent to draw a negative reaction out of those you clearly KNEW you could get a reaction from...

And on the other side of things...All you who are grumbling about how the world is out to get us and how we are being targeted and no body likes RPers is hogwash. The opinions expressed in this thread represent a small minority of the population who are vocal enough to express their opinions on the Lodestone. A Majority of the Besaid and gaming community is indifferent to rpers and are more than happy to let us go along our merry way and do as we please.

I think a part of that may be due to simple frustration. Here we have a thread that's fast approaching 300 posts, yet there hasn't been a single dev response saying so much as a "We'll look into it.(TM)" or "Sorry, there are no plans for a RP-Suggested server at this time." or even "It's coming. In 2.0." I think much of the heat you and TheVedis are feeling is due to simply being able to understand the difference in opinion between themselves and Non-RPers in general.

Coglin, you yourself flew off the handle in such a bizarre manner that many of us were rendered speechless and uncertain of how to respond, completely getting the major players in the discussion all wrong and posting in such an inflammatory manner that a number of your posts have actually been edited or removed by the community mods. Thevedis continually represents herself as having no problem with roleplayers, yet throws about terms like "RPist" and levels accusations that are better aimed at herself.

I was going to just do a huge /eyeroll and walk away from this thread forevers but before I do I just wanted to say that some of the ardent RPers in this thread are doing the whole roleplayers as a community thing a huge disservice with your attitude and your unwillingness to listen to even the slightest shred of a differing opinion--even from OTHER roleplayers. I really hope one day you guys can grow up and join everyone at the table for a real discussion, rather than just crying that everyone is out to get you/trolling you/bullying you/stealing your lunch moneys at the Quicksand.

Claims "RPers" are attention whores. Goes back four pages, every other post is Foxbat, Foxbat, Foxbat When everything that needed to be said and -was- wrapped up in the very first post.

Could dig alittle deeper and go. User also claims to have started the trend of "RPist" (Attention Whore's claim to start fads) Claims to invented "Fabulous" (Again, attention whore syndrome.) Goes around proclaiming S/E gunna ban the turbo's and bots (Though, true. Still only is vocal about it because said user knows it will grind peoples gears and will get guaranteed replies and dare I say.... Attention!?)

Oh, you mean you actually think this is the only thread on this topic? Your not that niave are you? This is what the 8th thread of its kind in the same originating week? My last post on the other thread was very supportive. Several RPers posted comments on my post in that thread appreciating what I said.

Asolutely. After never saying anything other then a kind word to or about any RPer, I got sick of being bunched in with with everyone else. A player an only read so many post of "proclaimed role-players" lecturing others about how dare we stereotype RPers based on the acts of a few, just have have several of you in this very thread do that to me. Lump some of us into groups with posters like Brigandier, who openly point out they "hate" you. I literally made a post specifying that I do not share that point of view. Appearently thoug, your fine with the rest of us being stereotyped, just as long as it doesn't happen to you. So yeah I may go on the occasional angry tyraid after a few pages of players I was supporting bashing on me cause they are too lazy to read all of the post.

Literally my first post in this thread was when this was said.

This thread is not demanding the RP community get a server all its own.

And all I did was make a post with 4 quoted posters literally word for word, demanding a they have a server all there own.

Just to have some other moron post that my point was not valid because they disagree with the post I quoted.

How does someone disagree with 4 posters make the fact that they were demanding a segregated server less valid?



Although it does need to be said, that if you want to avoid having all RPers stereotyped, based on the actions of a few. That you may want to stop stereotyping everyone as a "RPer hater" just because they aren't kissing up, or have something less the stellar to say about a RP topic.

I believe we should use this time to reconcile our differences.

I know we all do not see eye-to-eye on the situation and have had experiences that have shaped the opinions expressed in this thread. We may have rubbed each other the wrong ways, even I flew off the handle with Serdapi a few pages back. I apologize to anyone if offense was taken and for interrupting the flow of this thread.

I know there are things people will want to say to continue the discussion or to say their piece. And things that were already discussed in the thread that will resurface.

I can only hope that we all partake of these friendship cookies baked to honor of Balmung.

To forge ahead as a community.

And to bid those leaving Besaid a farewell and fair gaming on the new server they migrate too (and cookies).
