Leeches in Alliance Raids

I don't know if this was an issue in the past but recently in alliance roulette I've encountered a fair amount of leeches who do virtually nothing unless prompted to do so via chat. It doesn't seem like actual botting (if you talk about kicking them they'll run ahead to pull rooms ahead of the group so combat is always going to avoid kicks) but it is still a form of cheating in my opinion.

There is one character on Aether (we'll call him DBZ for the sake of not naming and shaming; no, this is not his name or initials or anything) who does this so often I've met players with macros set to explain his behavior in alliance chat so he can be kicked.

To be clear - I'm not talking about someone who just plays poorly, I'm talking about someone who (if unprompted) will sit either at the entrance to the zone or the gate to the first fight and just not do anything at all.

I encountered (and kicked) DBZ three times in the past week or so. One of the three times he actually never moved from the start of LotA, the other two he would make it to the first boss room then stand in the corner and not act at all.

I wanted to post this in an effort to encourage everyone to be aware of this kind of behavior. Obviously I can't reveal his in-game name but if you run into him you'll likely remember it. I've taken to scrolling over each alliance on the way to the first fight and seeing if he (or any of his many alts, same name) show up.

I also check after we leave the first trash fight of a raid to see if anyone shows grayed out/untargetable, then I keep an eye on them. Focus Target can be useful Once you clear a boss and loot is on the table it becomes much harder to kick anyone (because they just have to not roll on loot) so if you can spot these people before that happens it would be best.

I'm sure there are some people out there who don't mind carting dead weight through old content. Surely one less person in a 50 raid isnt making or breaking anything, but for me it's about principal - I'm not playing to farm poetics for someone else or whatever he is getting out of this. I hope this brings some attention to these sorts of people. Vote Kick exists for a reason.

I've encountered this in alliance raids as well. When I catch a player doing this, I have no problem calling them out in party chat if they are in my group, or alliance chat if grouped with others. One time I caught a player hanging out in the corner of the boss arena as if pinned by fear and I told him, "HEY DBZ! You might want to announce to the alliance if we're all on youtube!" He quickly joined the fight after that.

I for one find it unacceptable, and I believe it's in violation of the ToS. It can be easier to just carry the dead weight and move on, but I am a person of principle.

They helped making Alliance Raids instances / Duty Finder Instances to be able to start by filling the missing roles.

Also it's become habit to hover over votekick on first boss when somebody's making it apparent they're ducking the fights.
Very easy to halfass alliance raids but it's just showing off when you're still spending effort in hiding behind barriers and zooming towards chests (for kick-lock) asap.

The biggest issue is that you can't kick someone when the loot timer is active . The thing to do would be make a change so that a vote kick can still happen, and then as soon as the timer for any drops in the pool when they get booted lifts they're expelled.

I have noticed that too, some more obvious than others. It's happened several times but the one that stood out to me was a few weeks ago, when I rouletted into Labyrinth of the Ancients as a healer and it was about halfway through, during one of the fights, that I noticed I couldn't target my alliance's tank. It turned out she was standing outside the barrier.

Okay... No biggie, maybe she was afk and missed the opportunity to teleport in. But I started keeping an eye on her and... sure enough, the next fight, she again never even entered the barrier. I decided... maybe she was shy? I'LL HELP HER ALONG! So for the first time ever I found good use for Rescue.

Apparently having realised that someone had noticed her behaviour, and having been forcibly pulled into the fight, the lazy tank FINALLY engaged in combat.

However, once we got to Phlegethon, she came up with another non-engagement tactic. This time she entered the barrier on her own and even went with us to our designated pad. So far so good. But when we actually started fighting... she just kept standing on the pad. The helpful support player that I am, I once again used Rescue to show her the way to the frontline. You know... where the tank's supposed to be?

And that's where the punchline comes in. The tank... IMMEDIATELY WENT BACK TO THE PAD, even though we were nowhere near Ancient Flare. Like... She wasn't even AFK. That tank was ACTIVELY making effort not to fight.

For whatever reason we wiped (at least that one wasn't her fault, she was the first on the pad) and had to redo the fight. Once again, I Rescued her into the fray and she ran away from the boss. However, after the second flare, she actually decided to join the fight and get the last few hits in. I was so proud.
This time we beat the boss and... I was so annoyed I went straight to the exit before it occurred to that the pacifist tank should have been reported. I hope someone else had noticed it too and had more presence of mind than I.

At this point I have to ask... If you're queuing to do nothing, why would you:
- Enter as a tank, automatically putting the spotlight on you
- Expend more effort avoiding fights than you would have participating in them
- ACTUALLY BE THERE watching it happen instead of alt-tabbing to watch youtube or something

Come on! How hard can it be to properly AFK in a raid?

I'm not a healer, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Rescue could only be used on a person when said person is in battle? If theyre outside the barrier, then they're not in battle?

That's true for little fish in dungeons but I'm pretty sure raid bosses aggro everyone as soon as engaged by any member of the alliance. Whether or not that's true, the tank was on the right side of the barrier by the time it closed and I'd like to take credit for that n_n I don't remember it perfectly but it was the first time I actually used Rescue and I remember being surprised by how the effect looked, it wasn't as smooth and responsive as I had expected.

Yeah I've noticed this a whole hell of a lot lately.
I did a run of WoD recently in the roulette and noticed the DPS was extremely low. Looked and saw that three or four people were just spamming the chat and not helping at all. Then when our party almost wiped because the healers were also not doing their jobs, they finally did something.
