Not everyone enjoyed the train ride. I did but I know opinions differ here. that said, I don't think anyone wants to play another MMO inside an MMO they are currently playing and that is what this really feels like now. The slow everquest grinding style of play that while some older gamers like myself might find nostalgic, is not the greatest thing. It's a turn off to the entire zone and the only reason I want to go back is to see story. They turned this from a place to meet a lot of people to socialize and interact with to a thing that you do not go in there without a group. i've done a couple different NMs and find that some have been set to require an item from the bunnies to get max participation level. eureka seems to be an experiment that is failing.
The train ride made Anemos tolerable because, ultimately, it was a social event. I *hated* Anemos until I was able to get on the train. Once I was able to join it, I had a lot more fun. I met new people, chatted, joked around, had emote battles, goofed around, and ultimately, got up to level 20. And I enjoyed it. It still took several days to get everything that I needed to get a relic weapon, too. And those that hated the train could whack away at mobs and chain them - and eventually had the challenge log.
Pagos isn't fun because the social aspect has been totally gutted. No time to talk or else you'll break the chain. No time to goof around because your mobs may be snagged by another group. No helping friends because mismatched levels screw everyone for exp. No riding around on a mount, because heavens forbid we not dodge angry critters to make anything even a minute faster.
Anemos was far from perfect but the community found a way to make it fun.
The fact SE took away our mounts AGAIN is stupid, and forces us to go to level 35 to get them back. We just got them before coming here and you take them away...like that? It's stupid they removed mounts, it's stupid that they nerfed the train, and now I've seen more selfishness in Pagos then ever in Anemos. All these stories of people stealing mobs, ignoring, leaving people to die - meanwhile Anemos was alive with rez requests and people running to help, offering rides on the train. I met a few people and made friends because of that damn train. The train ride made Anemos tolerable because, ultimately, it was a social event. I *hated* Anemos until I was able to get on the train. it wasn't perfect. But at least people were able to, as a community, come together.
the train wasn't supposed to happen. pagos is the way anemos should have been.
Just because it's "how it should have been" doesn't mean it doesn't suck. Just because this is what was intended doesn't mean the majority enjoy it. If you hand me a badly cooked meal I'm going to put sauce on it to make it palatable. If you take away my sauce and say no, enjoy it as it's meant to be I'm going to leave. You and the other 50 people who enjoy Eureka "as it's meant to be" can run it by yourselves... and I hardly think a piece of content that is designed for the entire playerbase that then satisfies less than a quarter of the playerbase can be considered anything other than an unmitigated failure.
(NB4 "But UWU", that was designed for a particular set of players and even those of us who don't do it got enjoyment out of watching the race to World First.)
Granted, but consider the following:
If a service provider offers a thing, and people who partake in said thing modify it, or do with it what the provider did not design, and the provider lashes out at their customers, those customers won't be inclined to stay/return in the future.
I once heard that an important rule when selling a product is "never tell them they're using it wrong if they're happy".
Titan isn't bad. Titan groups are bad~
I hated the fate train. What's so fun about going afk then killing a boss then afk then killing a boss. That being said, I rode the fate train since it was the fastest way to level.
It's your choice to AFK. As everyone is pointing out that Eureka is supposed to be a "social" event, why not... socialize with others? You could do that a lot better in Anemos.
And even if you didn't like the NM train there were almost always NMs up but not being spawned. Take a group over and chain those mobs, get your NM spawn. It still would have been faster than the mindless grind in Pagos.
