That means every time you run out of snow cones, and you want more of them, you have to pay five dollars.

It's entirely possible their vendor doesnt allow purchases lower than $5.
I think it's dumb to charge that much personally, they should have bundled it for like 5 or 10 of them or something.....
I wouldn't ever buy consumables (other than fantasias ) off the mogstation anyway.
Is there anything for less than $5 on the mogstation right now? I'm not able to check.

They were just musing over possible reasons, also stated they think it's dumb.
I personally do not like having a cash shop in a sub game, but alas it's here to stay. Since it is, why shouldn't SE charge insane prices if people are willing to pay? I mean, sure, not trying to squeeze your customers for every last dime would be admirable, but they've proven time and time again they're not too concerned about that.
Same can be said to you, "pointless to argue with them if you are not defending SE."
Na, I still stand what I said, because it can be easily seen things are less then 5 dollars. The only reason they posted that to try make it sound less of an issue then it really is, a constant theme of them. for "why shouldn't SE charge insane prices if people are willing to pay?" because there is a such thing called "anti customer practices" and that is what causes governments to get involved, because companies can't self regulate. I wonder how much longer the gaming industry's free passes of government regulation will hold when they keep pushing stuff like this. They were just musing over possible reasons, also stated they think it's dumb.

Because sometime in the future, acting in this manner now is shooting themselves in the foot. Sure it makes nice short term profits, but what are the long term repercussions? Even at a self interest level, the long term repercussions can mean losing your core, older fanbase. That is why they shouldn't be doing it.

I highly doubt the government is going to be concerned over how a gaming company handles their cash shop. That's just an absurd stretch.Same can be said to you, "pointless to argue with them if you are not defending SE."

The cash shop is not going to appeal to everyone. But as it is, SE is still charging high prices, so they obviously seem to be content with the amount of revenue that they are pulling in from it. I imagine they would start lowering prices/have more sales if they saw things start to dip.
As for repercussions, time will tell. I personally would have a hard time playing another MMO by SE (not only because of cash shop), but the game is still hugely popular and doing well as a whole.
