Is this a normal function...

I've been experiencing two mildly irritating behaviors with the chat box and wondered if it is a bug, a feature or a setting I can change.

1) I cannot immediately continue typing after linking something without having to press ENTER after linking. Like - the act of linking an item into chat drops me out of the chat box. i.e if I were saying "I need [Stormsap] for the new crafting/gathering gear" after linking [Stormsap] I have to press ENTER again to be able to continue typing.

2) If I am macro crafting and having a chit-chat at the same time - when the craft completes the position of my text cursor is randomly thrown back somewhere near the beginning of the chat line and anything I type goes back there. It's weird. Hope that explains it.

Anyway, if you followed that -- did I do something in a setting to make it this way or is this the way it's "supposed" to behave?

I get this too but not with crafting. My text box gets *stuck* at a certain point and it will keep jumping back to that point, no matter how i scroll or type, or anyone else types. Have to relog to fix it.

The chat bar disappearing after linking something is normal. I've never had that second bug, however.

I've been seeing another one lately where I can't type more than about 25-30 characters into the chat box sometimes. It just randomly stops typing anything around that point, even though the cursor is there. I have to click outside the box and back in to continue typing.

#1 is a bit of an annoyance for sure.

I don't do enough macro crafting to notice the second bug but it wouldn't surprise me given the weirdness I've seen just typing normally without any macros running.

So, with this small slice of exposure do you think I should bug report or hope SE notice this thread and perhaps expand chatbox functionality?

It can't hurt to make the bug report, which is where they watch out for that stuff. At worst, it gets ignored and you spent 5m. At best, it gets fixed; it's a small thing, but it's still annoying when it happens (I've had the "can't type further" bug before).

I may answer the first question

When you link the item, you click on the item in your inventory, gear sets, or anything. Like how you click on the ground, other players, etc to disable the chat box.
