When you first meet the Fashionable Feline as a Miqo'te:
Me: "A talking cat!"
Fashionable Feline: "Oh, that's rich coming from you. Or have you not looked in a mirror lately?"

So Lore wise can we assume this event is actually canon? Cause I've done the MHW version where a Moogle comes in with an Aetherite Crystal and accidentally brings in Cactaur and the Behemoth. Though I haven't finished the MHW quest because the Behemoth is just as hard as Ex Rathalos. Both games were not meant for each other's mechanics!
I believe crossover events are generally considered to be "kind of canon" at best. The lore team, from what I gather, generally attempts to justify them happening within the XIV universe's rules. So, the most we can conclude is that both Felynes and Rathalos are a thing in the Far East to some extent. Or at least, that's the most that I can recall. I found the event and rewards extremely underwhelming, so I didn't pay all that much attention to it.So Lore wise can we assume this event is actually canon? Non-Miqo'te:
Miqo'te:
The only mystery left is what he says when you select the other dialogue option...

Here's the other option.
So the Palico was the one who posted the bill with Clan Centurio.Fashionable Feline: Have you come to help, then? To hunt the meownster Rathalos?
Warrior of Light: After seeing the bounty I couldn't resist!
Fashionable Feline:Thank you, miss, thank you! I knew I was right to post that bill.
Given that we know all the FFXII races are in Dalmasca somewhere, it's not that hard to buy that Palicos exist somewhere either. As for Rathalos, he's probably just a specialized wyrven. We've got plenty of those around already and the Au Ra think there's a dragon living in the Tail Mountains anyway.
And the DRG quests proved them right on that. Not that there can't be multiple dragons in the mountains, but that's probably unrelated (or at least unplanned) to what the local tribes talk about.
Especially considering that when you've completed the DRG quest, the Au'Ra mentions some folks having taken care of the dragon![]()
I also thought the "talking cat!?" option was a bit silly. I mean, by the time you've reached this quest the WoL has met with several beast tribes. Most players will probably have run into the auspices in the Four Lords quests. There's MIQO'TE for crying out loud. Animals or animal-like beings communicating through spoken language should not be a surprise lol.
The game is pretty selective about that, not to mention that was an obvious joke dialogue option (not to mention these events aren't quite canon to start with); I liked it, it was funny. Not to mention when you meet Genbu your Kojin partner will exclaim "By the kami! A talking turtle?" to the bemusement of the WoL and Tataru.I also thought the "talking cat!?" option was a bit silly. My point is, of COURSE it's silly, that's the point![]()
I liked that they included that! Though it did make me fleetingly hopeful that a certain someone from that questline would show up for a cameo.
I guess it's easier to keep "real quest" characters out of this.
