What was the design reason behind the Rathalos Armor Set?

I guess crafters on Hydaelyn can't be bothered to make armor that actually looks protective.

I guess that explains the belly hole in the female drg ARR relic set. Still a shame that they didn't just put the Rathalos armor in. Sometimes the obvious answer isn't so obvious.

It shows how weak the craftsmanship guilds are when it comes to building armor, similar to monster hunter, where it's meant to be intimidating for the most part, outside of a few select sets here and there.

Meanwhile, Monster hunter world gets Estinien Armor, essentially ALL FFXIV related and not a "here's a somewhat idea of FFXIV armor that could be in game". It's Estinien's Dragoon armor in full. And a Wyvern. Most XI players are loling.
