Community question: How would you feel if SE used Bot programs to hunt bots?

Like it says in the title, how would you all, the community, feel about SE using the programs that bots do to gain an unfair advantage to go after the ones that profit off of said programs.

This is all hypothetical, and I only want to know what people think about fighting fire, with fire. (In this case the botting programs)

Edit: As in SE 'improving' the bot programs to allow them (SE) to actively go after bots. Knowing every trigger to them and being able to just smack them then and there.

It really depends on how they implement it? what are SE programs looking for to get rid of RMT bot programs? are they looking for specific key words they use? are they looking for specific user names or are they looking for how many times one gets reported for RMT by actual players? the issue that I see with this is that if the player basis found out how they worked they could abuse the official SE bot program to harass actual players. That's the main issue with automated systems.

I don't understand what you mean, how would SE use a program to automate gathering to hunt people who use said program? It's not like the program tells you who are the other users, and SE already knows how said programs work.

I don't think it would matter what we think about it. SE has made it pretty clear that they are developing this game for themselves and not the players. They don't listen to us.

They could realistically create some manner of server-side bot that scans the data being send from clients to automatically punish players who repeatedly exhibit certain behaviors largely limited to bots (IE, jumping in place to take flight several times in a row, since ALL types of bots exhibit this impractical behavior in HW/SB as a seeming limitation of their client).

Considering that they've yet to address the gil farmers by patching any of the many holes in the game's design/coding they exploit, that'll probably never happen.

Fire doesn't feed off itself, it feeds off the flammable materials in the vicinity. Destroy those with a more controlled fire, suddenly the out of control fire has nothing to burn.

Automated detection methods, outside of something watching for out-of-bounds and severe pos-hacking behavior, are too likely to throw false positives between the game's spaghetti code and people with less-than-stellar internet. It would be fine for alerting the GMs there's something to look at, but that's just it; you need a dedicated staff of real people that can keep eyes-on and make judgement calls.

too many false positives. you'd have legit players being banned most likely as well as bots.
