The hardest part about Rathalos is realizing that the fight design is incompatible with FF-XIVs usual gameplay mechanics and getting people to throw any semblance of "playing your class properly, maximizing output" out of the window and start chicken-running until he is down and safe to DPS.

Hell, I can't even heal and am relegated to spamming a single frigging button in Phase II, how exactly is that supposed to be "hard" as a healer?

Hard content: yes, sure. Bring it on.
INCOMPATIBLE content that makes you incapable of playing your chosen role properly: I do not want more of that.

To be blunt: If I wanted MH gameplay, I would play MH, not FF-XIV.
Difficulty is not as flatlined as you would think. Was he the hardest thing lately. No, me getting a clear is proof of that. But it is I think a step in the right direction as its the first 4 man extreme we have, and its fight is something newish. Finding new ways to deal with the fight? Yes it's not perfect but I think it's a good stepping stone to work off of. Like they have to start somewhere rigjt?

Not by neutralizing their own game.
I play FF-XIV for a reason. I play White Mage for a reason. I expect hard content to cater to that chosen playstyle, not import something completely alien, essentially forcing me to abandon it.

Doing so as a one-off with an event like this, okay, I can live with that. Different strokes and all that, after all it basically is a promo of another game.
Telling them "awesome, more just like it!11" .. well, lets just say, that I'd like to provide a countering voice at that point, okay?

To each their own. But I think it's a fine first step. I can see more bosses like that that shake up the actual format that so many gamers are apparently bored with. I mean we can get another one where we have to outrun a boss or something while fighting, the possibilities are endless. It doesn't always have to the format. I liked the second phase of the fight and taking away the air markers ras awesome in my opinion. Makes you legit play that fight a completely new way.

You're DPS, ofc you like it lol.
Your role in the fight didn't get reduced to 2 buttons after a 40% HP drop.
On top of that, you can DPS while on the move, as a melee. As a caster, with very limited instantaneous abilities, I friggin hate "chicken-run" encounters.
Esp in a game like this where casts are 2 seconds+.

I've always had a soft spot for these types of bosses and in reality, RathEX is just a fancy version.

    A kill where I dodge melee style for a phase - https://youtu.be/WEzFsDGKATE

My preferred approach to dodging - https://youtu.be/g1RHpKJ_32U

It's a fun alternative fight IMHO and I hope SE take some of the lessons learned from it to heart.

I still see so many people just standing there attacking like they have been conditioned to since ARR. You cant do that in this fight. Constantly move. Weave in, use a weaponskill, weave out, wait for GCD, weave in, use weapon skill, repeat. Try to stay behind him. Watch the visual cues. Its really not that hard but its hella fun since you cant just brainlessly tank and spank like EVERY other boss in this game. I want more of this!!!

I guess I more in agreement with you. I love the change, not having big aoe markers and making everyone play a new way is the best I feel. I want more as well.

Nha its just a totaly easy fight that use other game mecanics ignoring the way FFXIV work : One trash to justify the tank being here, second half of the fight with healer asking himself why he even bother coming is not a good step for à difficult 4 man fight.

Its a one time collab, don't expect any 4 man challenge after this because its just like this because it works like this in MHW nothing more, heck even in world the fight isn't remotely interessting if you don't do it alone because 4 player will make the monster melt like snow so what do we do now ? Solo extreme fight ?

FFXIV is all about teamwork working with the saint trinity and surpassing mecanic by understanding them and avoid them while maintaining your skill rotation while MHW is all about timing and knowledge of your pray. Two different games for two different gameplay, doing what you should do in MHW to killing your pray would be mecanic abuse requiring corrective patch in FFXIV.

Welp, there are a few more things that can be clinch.

    1) Only healers can remove dots, even if everyone dodges everything perfectly, the burn pool drops are unavoidable. So at least one person will be getting some burn stacks between down gauges.

    2) Not Tested... Rescue might actually be a thing. I didn't think about it yesterday, but if it works in the fight it could be used to pull ppl out of the way of attacks or out of burn pools if they get hit into one.

    3) Not Tested... I'm not sure how DoT dmg works in this fight in regards to Downed Status. What I mean, If a DoT is applied while it is flying... Does the dmg increase per tick based on his vulnerability when Downed OR does it continue to tick at the dmg it would have done when applied during flight? If the former, then getting DoTs up once the gauge is 80+ would be a thing to prioritize.

    4) Defensive Buffs still work. AST has the most options with Cards, but Protect, Benison, and Sacred Soil still effect incoming dmg as well.

if the mount doesn't matter to you then you don't have to farm the EX trial. now i'm also confused on what you think sucks. you want more to farm from the normal trial that's not the mount?
