Auto Target still doesnt work right

I have tried posting before and i took the advice of other gamers, thank you by the way if you see this post, but to no success. I am having an issue with targeting and i know I'm not the only one cause others in my groups have said the same thing. I push my key to auto target and there are many times i could be right in front of a monster and either it targets something behind it or not at all. I end up using my mouse when should be able to rely on my auto targeting. SE should really test and review the auto targeting system and make sure it can be counted on.

You're not likely to get much of a response with such a vague post. I can't say I encounter any unexpected issues with targeting. I would suggest some screenshots of when it isn't working as you'd expect.

If you're talking about tab (or controller equivalent) targeting, it only really works by cycling through enemies on screen from left to right, regardless of distance.

Personally, I find myself using the "target nearest" key binds far more. It's not great if I need to find a particular one to hit, but it's enough in most situations.

Controller has an auto-target that's at least usually fairly accurate, though a bit annoying for gathering classes. (I wish gathering nodes had higher priority. Why would the game think my botanist wants to target the mob next to me instead of the tree in front of me?) Its only major drawback, though, is that it's also the "confirm" button, so only works for targeting when you currently don't have a target at all. if you accidentally hit it to target something when you already have a target, it will instead perform the default action for your current target rather than selecting the one in front of you.

I've only just started trying to get used to playing with keyboard and mouse. There the "target nearest" keybinds/macros seem to work best most of the time. The only drawback (though it's occasionally an advantage) is that you need separate keybinds for each type of target (nearest enemy, nearest player, nearest NPC/Object), and I often wish it had a single keybind that prioritized target types like the "confirm" button does when targeting, so I could set it once to the most convenient key and use it for everything.

Well that would be great if at the time I was targeting things it wasnt in a fight trying to not take so much damage. Besides what is going to be seen in a screen shot that would be clear. If i could video it then great but chances are youd hear me screaming profanities at my computer screaming about the crappy programming i the targeting system LMAO.

I dont play with a controller i play on PC with my keyboard ive never been able to play with a controller it frustrated me. I started Playing MMO'S online since the first MMORPG Ever Quest, and i dont mean EQ2 where it was played off the playstation I mean the first Game on PC, and thats how i learned how to play MMO's and I have never changed nor can i adjust. IM very set in my ways. But I have never encountered a system that was so flawed as to not target correctly.
