Housing Demolition Timer Removed After Patch

This is more of a complaint, as it cost me the house I was hoping to grab. But I went to bed with a 13 hour timer left on a demolished property, this was before 4.36 patch was released last night. When I woke up to check on the property, which should have had at least 5 hours left on the timer, the house was already taken.

I know housing is cutthroat, but SE might want to look at the unintended removal of the demolition timers on patch nights. Pretty angry that I lost out because I wasn't up at 2am.

Why would it have at least 5 hours left? The timer ticks during the patch but it doesn't remove it automatically. There was a Mist house on Bal that was still locked down after the servers came up.

So somebody transferred in? It ignores timers.
Though I wasn't even aware you could see the exact timer on it unless it's your house about to go.

As far as I’m aware, the purchase timer on an empty plot is completely random, and you cannot see it. It can be anywhere from 1 hour to several; it’s not a hard 13. Relocating also completely ignores it, so it’s very much possible that someone relocated to the plot and didn’t outright purchase it.

The only timer you can see is the one that counts down to when the next price reduction is going to happen. You cant see the timer in regards to when the plot will become open to purchase, since that one is random and a show of said timer would defeat its purpose.

So... welcome to the housing game!

That timer is the devaluation timer, as in when the price will next be lowered.

It's impossible to see the actual timer on when a plot can be purchased, but threads on reddit suggest it's a random time between 30 minutes and 23 hours.

If you want a specific house, you need to buy ANY house first, then relocate to the house of your choice. Relocating bypasses the timer.

Ah well thank you all for clearing that up. I really didnt understand the timer on the sign then, i thought meant it would be available after that time. Was hoping to finally own a house. And it was right next to my FC so it was perfect.

Gotta say, not a fan of this system. Why include a timer at all on the sign if it has no indication of when the property is available.

Because it is an indication to when the price of the property will decrease?
In our inflation-days of now that might not seem relevant anymore but depending on the property it might have been intresting to know how long you'll have to wait to save some gil.

Buy enough real estate and you start to see the patterns in the hidden timer
