I do like the social aspect of the train. Because there's not much going on, if you're not going afk you're killing monsters non-stop like chains. But after 30+ minutes of nothing changing, people start to get loopy. They get chatty.

Shout chat erupts with random conversations. This can cause some silly things to happen, like bear puns at Callisto or eye puns at Hakutaku and Angra Mainyu. You find unorthodox ways to entertain yourself while mindlessly slaying mobs, and others are doing the same. Brothers in arms, partners in pain. We're all suffering from Stockholm syndrome, but we're suffering together.

It's an interesting feeling because it really does become a social event, even if the content itself isn't interesting. If that social aspect could be channeled into gameplay that was equally as engaging, we could have a real winner.

I also kinda like the social aspect that the FATE train may have.
But that's pretty much the only thing about FATE train that I like. It's an easy, boring, uninteresting shit.

Not to say that chaining is better. It's easy, boring and also not very interesting. And on top of that you can't really chat or you risk breaking the chain.
Chain party could have been more interesting if the mobs wasn't just HP sponge dummies and combat gameplay was more than just spam your rotation.

All in all, and it really pains me to say it, but I'd rather do FATE train than chain party.
But, I'll just skip this entierely. I have no interest for boring content.

Also you can take a break if you're tired or don't feel that you can contribute enough. You help with some mobs where you can, spend the rest of the time killing the NM or chatting. It's dull, but not as dull as mashing the same four buttons for hours on end. As long as the mobs aren't 7+ levels above me, I can still help out by doing some damage or w/e. That's what keeps the train tolerable - contribute if you can, don't interfere if you can't, simple rules.

People in Pagos complain more than randoms who've never helped spawn an S rank in their lives do when you "early pull" an S rank that people have been waiting at for five minutes.
This would have some merit - if only the NMs where currently guaranteed to spawn where the farming group has actually been killing mobs.

    They are though.

The mobs that spawn the NMs are all in the immediate vicinity of the NM, such that the people doing the mobs for the NM will be among the first to arrive. The furthest you can get is if you do the lab minotaurs up top to spawn Brothers, but that's still easily reachable before the mob gets there because it's closer to the NM than the nearest aethernet node. If you're farming water sprites for Anapos and Holy Cow spawns, well, you weren't working on what spawned, so why do you feel entitled to it? And that's of course assuming you were working anything at all and not just sitting AFK near an aethernet, which has definitely picked up a lot since the return of the train.

Every Pagos I've been in since the patch has had NMs popping in multiple places, because people are still chaining. If you're riding the train and "bored", it's your choice; the option to chain is still there and even more alive than it was in Anemos.

Or are you just bitter that not everybody is being forced into doing the thing you like to do?

    7 Louhi kills and counting.

    Still no TT card.

Only need 3 more light for the relic though, so getting there

EDIT: 10 Louhi kills, no card.
Does this thing even drop the card?
One guy made the claim that it comes from bunny chests...

EDIT 2: Nevermind, it finally dropped on the 11'th kill.
And i'm now down to needing only 1 more light level for the relic.
    Almost done with Pagos now.

Even after the adjustments, I'm still not participating in or encouraging this content. Maybe I'm a little jaded after playing for 5 years, but whereas I used to feel the need to complete everything, these days if it's not fun then I just don't do it. With how they procedurally generate content, all efforts are rendered pointless in 3-6 months anyway. Even as a glamour enthusiast, I cannot be bothered to work toward this relic anymore. They can keep it.

And that's a large part of a much larger problem FFXIV has. 80-90% of the content/items are pretty much dead/useless a few months after release. They work a lot to create stuff...that have, at best, a few months lifespawn.

In some others games, you knew why you would do not so fun content. To get a long lasting weapon/skill/spell/armor/whatever.
Here, it's just something that will be outdated very quickly.

I decided to go back in and see how it was after the changes.
I got two levels in a couple of sessions (4hrs approx) despite dying once trying to get to my group and losing xp.

It's still frustrating and the penalty on having people of different levels in your group is a pain. Trying to spawn Snow Queen I realised that I wasn't getting any credit for the challenge log, we had one level 34 in the group while the rest were between 27 and 31. Oh well I thought, at least they're helping to spawn, then I noticed they were hugging the Aetheryte afk. A little while later they left and somebody else joined, they were level 21... So, despite killing plenty of mobs, my challenge log is still incomplete.
I'm not blaming the group leader because I've tried forming groups myself and the alternative is to wait out a sizeable portion of your time trying to get enough people of the right level together. Are the people saying chaining is more efficient taking the time it takes to form a group into account? Or have I just been very unlucky?

The atmosphere in there is still pretty bad compared to Anemos. Getting a raise is still hard if my experience and all the shouts going out is anything to go by. As somebody said earlier, it's not snow in there, it's salt.

After I came out I asked myself the question, 'Was that fun?' and to be honest, no, I cannot say I enjoyed it at all. It passed the time, I did feel I got something out of it but it wasn't fun.
