Yes its hard to find a party if you are not 30+ because this content is already over a week old. I don't even want to think about the poor souls who go into pagos in a month or later.Anyone else having issues finding groups? I don't like it but I'm trying to slowly go through it. My main issue is Eureka in a while seems a lot less friendly. I finally hit 23 last night after going back to Anemos to do my challenge log because I couldn't get a group in Pagos. I eventually had to make my own but still couldn't find a full party of 8 that wanted to do the same things. Luckily we got group of about six to work together on our challenge log. This was during prime time hours. This is going to be very difficult for people to catch up even with the challenge log.
My Pagos experience today as lvl 25 : get a party to kill lvl 31 mobs, die 4-5 times on the way, have everyone distracted on the first pull and party wipe. Eat the penalty to go raise the party, delevel to 24, get beaten to the punch for the raise, die on the way anyway. Got raised but then FATE spawns at the other side of the map. Get in time for it, get some exp back but then party disbands.
Real fun for masochists. Even in FFXI we had prism powders/sneak oils to navigate dangerous areas. I think I'll pass on the relic this time even though I got ARR and Heavensward ones...

A nice and good feeling is finally clearing Kefka Savage with your main group of friends (we're mostly casual).
If I genuinely don't enjoy something and get the reward for finally beating/completing it, I don't feel good. I still feel frustrated. "That was dumb. I did not like this at all."
If Pagos was just Anemos 2.0 and then some (page 54 I mentioned a couple of things), it would be fine. Levelling up would be bearable and going afk for one reason or another wouldn't cause parties to break the chain... also reduce the heatwaves. Please SE.

i feel the exactly opposite. after i have beaten my head against the mechanic wall in a raid fight and finally have cleared it i feel nothing but "That was dumb. I did not like this at all."A nice and good feeling is finally clearing Kefka Savage with your main group of friends (we're mostly casual).

the biggest excitement i ever get in this game is from fishing. it's RNG after RNG after RNG, a horrible grind and - completely useless. it also involves basically no skill at all. but catching those legendary fish after weeks or even months of trying it over and over again feels awesome! :O
what i don't like in Pagos is the leveling and the exp penalty you get when the levels don't match. i also don't like the chain system, because i don't like to play with that clock. i want to be able to take breaks. after finally getting a party together and then locked inside for 3 hours and the chain timer is no fun. but i have no problem with the grind per se.

And SE banks on all of the people who say "I don't like it but it's all I have so I'll do it." Ignoring the fact that for a lot of folks it's not even tolerable, "tolerable" should never be a bar we allow games to stoop to. If this was back in the days of actual server limitations, when giving capes "wind" physics was a Big Deal, maybe this kind of grind would have been "tolerable" because games hadn't broken out into new types of content and playstyles. But it's 2018. Games have already proven million times over that they can do much more innovative stuff than this. Even a "hearken back to XI," which so many players want, could be done more enjoyably than this. If you don't want to stand up and say "Shame, SE, you could do better" that's fine. But "it's not the worst" should never be an acceptable parameter for something.
And for the record, we all know the satisfaction of a job well completed, we're not saying it needs to be a walk in the park. But I don't find that much satisfaction in the same monotonous motions nonstop for 2 weeks. I certainly don't want to pay for the privilege of doing it.
The relic quest is a way for casual players to get a decent weapon, it's not about having the most "prestigious" weapon.
And imo it fails at that because most casual players wont have the time to put into this. At least with old relics people could work on their own time on it and do other stuff next to that. Now everyone is forced to go into this which means that all the other content is out of their reach..and they need to get to it now otherwise they might fall back. With old relic you always had a way to progress, here if you dont find a team or are unlucky and die you will even be able to lose progress.
So the time needed for this does not feel casual at all.
On top of that the next patch will come out next month which will normally include better weapons..so its even useless in that point.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
This is the real problem. Casuals just can't do it, and the relic is supposed to be for casuals, yet the people with the advantage are the raiders already with pre-formed parties. I only have about 2 hours spare to take a break and play, cannot follow a particular schedule due to work, and I have found I can spend an hour or more of that time just trying to get a group together (they are certainly never the same level). I've only managed to get in and do that once this week. I don't actually mind how much time it needs, or how much of a "grind" it is, what I want it is the opportunity to actually get it done. It needs a DF, they did it with diadem, no reason to not have it as an option for this unless they would prefer all their casual players unsubscribing.
Oh please not only raiders have their fixed parties. There are a lot of FC's who just play amongst each other. This is the real problem. Hit 35 last monday. Got a weapon a friend wanted me to help them by driving them on the mount one hour later we went to play Wow. This sure feels casual when you can get the same Ilevel weapon for almost zero effort.
They need to rethink the strength of the relic when people can get a 370 weapon from a 24man with very little effort . Maybe they should release the weapon upgrade in 24man after the relic step is released.
