Eureka took the name from III, the characters from V, the theme from Mystic Quest, and inspiration from the grind of XI.
And then did such a poor job on the content, that fans of all four games are disappointed.

It's a Carpal tunnel syndrome inducing boring long slog no one in their right mind should waste his precious life time on.
It's not even about the work or how long it takes i would gladly put even more time and work in it if it was actually fun to do and felt rewarding.

Honestly, I've gone back to farming scrips for materia, because the gathering, the repetitive, manual crafting, and watching handfuls of materia blow up is so damn fun in comparison to Pagos.

Personally, I just feel so disappointed. I ended up enjoying Anemos due to the fate train - it was sociable and I spent hours in there daily, especially during my weekends. I had a feeling that things were going to change, but I was still excited for Pagos. After a long while of my boyfriend and I trying to form a party, we formed one. I could feel everyone’s souls withering away as we grinded. Everyone kept asking about the fate train too. Plus, keeping a full party is like pulling teeth! Grinding can only really be successful providing everyone stays around.
There’s so much the developers can do with Eureka but... they don’t. I just don’t think this style of grind fits FFXIV. I’ve played other grindy games but due to how they work it feels a lot more rewarding and I don’t get that bored doing it. On FF it just feels so mind numbingly boring. And now? There’s no incentives for higher levels to party up with lower levels, and due to circumstances I wasn’t able to level with the initial bunch.
I’ll go there a few more times to see if my mind changes, but I just felt so underwhelmed and downloaded another game to play.

Too true,
First party yesterday collapsed because we had 2 tanks, 2 healers and 4 dps. It was, as you would expect, slow. We couldn't chain beyond 6 as by then the initial mobs were dead and tank had to travel to pull which was time and costly. One healer left to change to DPS but while journeying back, the second tank left and began shouting for "lfg 23 - 25 good chains only please" or similar. Pfft
Then that group collapsed because 1 person left after levelling up to 26 while the lowest in group was 23. We couldn't find a replacement in 5 minutes so people left, those that did come in soon left as they were almost about to level so wouldn't be in the group long.
Eventually I left and went back later and got something sorted through Party Finder but again one or two left after 20minues or so and levelling. Spent more time LFM than actual grinding I think. Still managed a couple levels though at least. So always positive to be had...![]()

New problem. Reached the high levels and it seems the Anubys type enemy is very lucrative for exp/light because it has a high rate of mutation and a chance to drop cold-warped lockboxes. But that area is busy and when I tried to form my own party and find a space to work, an aggressive tank from another group came and stole it away from me and ran it back to his group. Some people are keeping a monopoly on the fastest progression methods and there's not very good options for other people. We could try to leech on the other group's enemy chains and cause them to receive an exp penalty and argue over it, or I can move my group to a less rewarding spot but this time they were not interested and we disbanded. *sigh*

Had a similar situation but it was because the other party didn't know we were saving the mutation for chain 30. After we explained what we were doing they didn't bother us. There are more Anubys mobs in the caves below past the Vouivres.New problem. Not surprising. Nisi sac, skip soar, tank lb on byakko, ghost cheese, third-party applications for nael's lines and gaols or just third-party applications in general, requiring one or both dps having a res for hoh, no dupes in pf when loot isn't a factor: If the player is presented with an easier option, they'll take it. Players have already cheesed louhi. If a method was found to cheese the pagos grind, many of the complaints you see now would go away. We know this because that's exactly what happened with anemos.
There's still the single thing they have mised for the relic - there has always been ways to queue/get matched parties, which is all casuals can do. Organising 8 other people (the precise EL level as well) to a timetable isn't something casuals can do - or they'd be like every other static and doing savage instead. Basically they've given statics an easy way to the relic AS WELL, and stuffed the casuals. They need to introduce party matching, plain and simple.
Well since I am subbed again, I can finally post too.
I did not do Pagos since I am still only lvl 12 in Anemos and honestly after reading the feedback and how it functions I wont do it. I am just a bit surprised how they managed to make it even worse because I still had hope that they would take our feedback and make it into something better...well..
Anyway I find it interesting how some already forgot the hate around Anemos. People are saying that they must have listened to the JP playerbase even though they also hated the first one. They had a thread were those that disliked it had the most amount of likes and some even called it dirt. At the same time reddit had a thread with over thousand upvotes that said that its bad content and we had a 100+ thread were it was mostly negative too. The one poll on reddit that showed a bit better numbers for the content was not great since it only had one negative options and two positive ones thus it was already in favor for it with its questions alone. Also we had the train just days after it started and people still disliked it but at least they were able to farm it faster.
But still interesting to see how even those that liked Anemos now dislike Pagos. Thats really Diadem all over. And if they somehow (which I now really doubt) manage to make the last part of Eureka a bit more fun, then that means that people would still need to level through the other ones to reach this..which means hours upon hours to get to the part were it might be good..thats not great content imo.
Edit: Didnt they already say that Pagos would be different from Anemos? And the only thing that they added was the treasure hunting with the bunny which could have been an interesting side content if everyone got a bunny or at least something good out of the chest and if it did not need a "no exp" fate to even get it...If that is all what they added..then what will we get for the next one..a jumping puzzle with death if you fall?...
Those that dislike Anemos and still do also exist.
Getting SE to destroy content for certain players, just so other people can have easy upgrades is a bad business move. SE wants as many types of players possible. People complained about Anemos up until the day Pagos was released. Now most people on the forums hate Pagos but like Anemos. There are just a couple of people now that at least found it more beareable with the train but that still makes it not a great content and finding something acceptable to at least grind it thanks to another strategy from the community is not the same as liking it.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Well i decided to cancel my sub for now, there is not much else for me to do atm anyway so i might as well play something from my backlog till they fix this mess.
