Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I have hopes they get rid of it entirely or at least make it like the pvp variant, tho AoE.
I also welcome protect / shell splits and putting it on WHM for flavor. Make the cooldown shared so you have to decide whether you want physical protect or magical shell.
God have mercy if the damage type is darkness (neither physical nor magical) though. :blobsweatbutfast:
I wouldn't get rid of the macro yet. The increased slots isn't happening until at least 4.4 as far as I know. There's nothing in the patch notes about it at all. I've never un-slotted Protect just for the reason that too many people get salty if they die and it isn't reapplied instantly. I tend to swap out Esuna or Largesse instead.
The last live letter for 4.4 confirmed;
"We're planning to increase the number of Role Action slots from 5 to 10."
We'll no doubt hear mention of it again in the next Live Letter which by the sounds of the special 14hr broadcast page on the Lodestone is set for 1st September... which is quite a wait
