What if everyone chose the same server?

Yes, well, I'm not really interested in participating in the forum drama, all I really care about is being able to maintain my play experience.

What I'm primarily concerned by is having my group of friends all transfer one-by-one might mean that the server would fill up prematurely thanks to some Kevin Bacon-esque rule and the last few people would be left out. Obviously, my group of friends would then naturally choose another server (and this issue might happen again), but this frankly sounds annoying and it'd be nice if they could just move entire blocks of people simultaneously and make life easier for us.

Actually, I lie. The more realistic thing that would happen would be that everyone on the new server would just wait for you to keep trying until you managed to get in (because people are fundamentally apathetic). Would it be possible for us to have reservation lists if a server is full? As in - "Your character will be added to this server once a space frees up even though it is at maximum capacity". It'd be a lot more convenient than trying to refresh the server every few seconds, desperately hoping that a vacancy has appeared

The only reason this troubles me is because this is exactly what happened for some of my friends when FF14 first opened and I'm very worried of history repeating itself. They had to play whack-a-mole with the server acceptance list and some of my FF11 friends even ended up going to other servers as a result.

@Quesse: Ah, so the onus is on us, so to speak (Just a little word play). Such an elegant solution - just make it Somebody Else's Problem, and if something goes wrong, it becomes our fault.
