What if everyone chose the same server?

Theoretically speaking, what would Square-Enix decide to do if the entire population of FF14 decided to dogpile into a single server, say Server #1?

I realise this is highly improbable outside of agitated people trying to initiate some kind of misguided activism, but I'd like to know what Square-Enix's contingency plan would be if this happened.

Sadly, they're capping the population. So after X amount of people joined, it would be locked unless someone left.

So in other words - there's a chance that you might not be able to get onto the same server as your friends, but it's all okay since we can vicariously follow each other on Lodestone?

Would it be possible to add a LS shift option or something? Just let people pick a primary Linkshell and shift the entire linkshell as one tetris-block-sized group.

NO. Since the timeframe for the move is so long, if a server fills up and not everybody can make it in, just choose another server. Its not like the move is happening in an instant. There will be many days for in game discussion and follow up for those linkshells/groups that want to make the move together.

Right now your best bet is to organize with your linkshell leaders to pick a server number, or to join server movements such as Trabia > 7rabia, Besaid > 8esaid.

But as you can see the forums are on fire with the topic and I would not be surprised (Actually I'd be delighted) if they do release names of the servers after the backlash.

Agree the community devs need to get us some names so that people can try to stay together.
