    Crafter Master Recipes help needed

This whole system is confusing. I don't understand it at all. I unlocked it, but can't figure out how to use it.

Can someone who does understand it please give me the "explain it like I'm 5" breakdown?

I'd be forever grateful! Honestly, I don't even care if the person is condescending about it.

I have both Botany and Carpentry above level 50. I'm trying to get a hold of the Ebony Lumber Recipe.

    1. Acquire a master recipe book (there are 6 per class, plus a demimateria book)
    2. Use a master recipe book
    3. Open the crafting window
    4. Select the class you learned master recipes for
    5. Click the bag with the star next to the stairs so that you're on "Special Recipes"
    6. Select the appropriate master book
    7. Craft them like any other recipe

The only thing to take note of is that they have minimum craftsmanship and control requirements and are often much more difficult to craft than normal recipes when you are at an appropriate level and gear level for them, though they become trivial like anything else as you out gear them. If you have something specific you want to craft and it's even remotely difficult at current level cap, there are generally a bunch of macros to choose from to help you out.

Edit: For Ebony Lumber specifically, you need Master Carpenter II. I'm pretty sure that comes from Talan in Revenant's Toll and I think there are prerequisite quests of some type. You'll also likely need Master Carpenter I in order to craft the item you need to purchase Master Carpenter II.

I can confirm Talan is the man with the secrets.

For CRP Master I: You need one HQ Treated Spruce Lumber. Anyone can make it. I would buy the hardened sap with grand company seals, if you don't have enough. They are NQ only.

For CRP master II: CRP needs HQ Reinforced Spruce Plywood from Master CRP I. It, like all Master II unlocks, requires 2 Fieldcraft Demimateria III and one other item. This demimateria makes it harder to HQ the craft and you must complete the craft yourself. If you only crafted a NQ Reinforced Plywood, you can trade it to Talan for one Fieldcraft Demimateria III back, so it is not a total loss. The other item is another craft from he same master I book. In the case of CRP, that is Spruce Plywood.

Fieldcraft Demimateria III (FC3) you either need to learn how to use desynthesis, throw gil at someone trustworthy that can desynth, or you need to buy it off the MB.

If you don't want to buy the demimateria, though I believe a lot of it is rather cheap right now, this guide has some good ways for all demimateria from earlier on in the game

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-Endgame-Guide

It even says what are best for which demimateria too. This is just info adding on to what the others have already said.

Crafting the stuff you need for your master 2 book will be very very difficult if carpenter is the only crafting class you have at 50+. With good gear and few melds you can get your Master 1 but Master 2 will be very hard if not impossible until you reach 65-70. If you try for Master 2 now you will likely end up using a lot gil and materials trying to get HQ.
