You know what's going to happen. People will either accept what the app is and pay for premium (whether it's voluntery or no choice), or not enough players will sub to it and SE will have no choice but to take drastic action. Additional space should not be locked behind extra costs (unless it's a retainer) as everyone has been crying for more inventory for a long time, yet we get a saddlebag that is no good in instances....

I really hope SE pay attention to all the feedback they are getting about the app.

Personally? I honestly don't care and I know that is selfish but i just don't.
I know this is a cliche but i see it as an optional thing. I know i will at least try out premium cause i see the benefits for my playstyle and what i find enjoyable in this game.

While I can understand people's concern this is just the start I think people are overthinking. People said same with Mogstation in 2014 and there have of course been negativity regarding that plattform since it was introduced but people have learned to accept it and so will people about the app eventually.

Why is people so vocal about a app with a super niche target but €18 glam and €21 mounts or Level/MSQ skip is getting more accepted?

Yeah it would be nice getting all these features (except selling on mb, that should be restricted to counter manipulation) but it's a business decision and nothing we say or do will change their stance on that.
If no one (won't happen, hi all whales out there) sub to premium they will still keep it in. I mean just referencing the thread you linked earlier and the dozzens of threads prior to that - did that change any outcome with the app development? No it didn't.

You may disagree with me but that's the facts and how I view it at very least. I...Just don't hope this means all we gonna get is questions regarding the app or state of microtransactions on fanfest, I'd rather get Q&A about like the next expansion and in-game related questions (please no butt sliders and oranges).

Edit - But to actually answer your question and I think you know the answer as well, there no point in speaking up these days. Just like with the housing situation, pagos, and everything else in between, it feels like a BIG waste of time. They aren't listening! We don't seem like valued costumers to SE. We try to get their attention here, we try on reddit, we try on twitter, we get met with nothing but feeling like we talk to a brick wall. And there only so much yelling the player base can do before they finally just throw their hands up and walk off and that what SE wants. It their way, or the highway, simple as that.

Lowkey, I think we dig our own hole in our community. We complain on so much stuff that don't matter that they grew tired of us. Yoshida even hinted jokes at us during some LL. Sad to say, I'm not that shocked.

If you do crafting an selling on the marketboard, it is a paid advantage, as you get 20 slots for item selling with every paid retainer.

And don't forget the storage. If you really do active endgame crafting, with only 2 retainers you have to throw away alot of mats as you will run out of space. And you have to gather them again when new recipes appear. With more retainers you can store all of them. So you save time when a new patch kicks in. As faster you are ready to sell, the more gil you can make with it.

Yeah, I get that. We do complain about a lot but some of it is valid. Like with this app. Why should we have to pay extra? Already the mog station is overpriced, our subs and (if you have it) extra retainers that are $2 a pop. Our sub money should be more then enough to have all the bells and whistles of this app.

Again I stand behind the fact that if Blizzard has the same app and allow it player base to use ever part of it for free, this is just making SE look worse on the front and showing just how much of a money grabbing company they are being.

With Gil you can't only buy a house, you can buy crafted equipments and materia to make pentameld equipment that is normally the bis equipment for the first weeks of the raid and when ppl is desperately trying to be the first to clear, so yeah Gil matters.
And the retainer advantage isn't just 20 more slots for selling, retainer can bring you materials back through the venture system, so you don't need to go get them yourself and with 8 retainers (9 with the app?) they can bring you enough material to even do some spirit bonding without much work. You can just netflix and chill on the whole process.
Oh yeah and Gil can also buy the super expensive mounts (like HoH mount that u need a lot of dedication to get) and the expensive cloths from the new aquapolis thing (i forgot the name of it, but that is also a pain to get)

On the day when patch 4.4 get released, as always, I will burn alot of gil (for some I know it takes between 80 and 100 million of Gil) to overmeld my crafter gear with the new required stats to be able to craft the 4 star recipes. Overmeldung eats alot of materia. 50-100 fails for slot 4 and 5 in every piece of gear are sadly a normal thing in this game.

I will also buy some mats I have no time to gather it myself, which I had to throw away because of no storage space available, as I need to get my battle gear for Alphascape Savage ready as fast as possible. With my current new group we plan to finish Alphascape Savage within the first three weeks, so I will also spend alot of Gil to overmeld this too.

New bufffood and pots are also incoming. I have both specialists ready for this. But right after the beginning, I will not have the time to gather all mats for it.

When my own preparation is done, I can start to produce stuff to sell. At this point I do minimize the amount of gil I spend for mats. But there is sometimes stuff you can only get for tomes or other currencies than gil, which I also would buy with gil from the market board, when the time needed to collect it is to much for me.

When you only play casual in this game, than gil is not really winning much for you. But when you play competitive, Gil is a thing and so additional retainers are an advantage.

Btw: I also needed alot of gil to be successfull at the "Shirogane Savage house buying" run. And finally I got the most expensive size L plot around 15 mins after the servers gone online.

Isn't it $2/month per extra retainer through the Mog Shop? You'd be spending less money just grabbing two retainers that way, unless you really prefer another saddlebag over a retainer (or unless you've already maxed out on retainers, in which case you probably don't need a whole other one and a saddlebag anyway?). Either way, while I haven't downloaded the app yet it sounds to be pretty lackluster. At least you don't need it to play the game, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This app is a complete waste of space on my already strained phone. I'm uninstalling it. Doesn't have features I need and other things I would like are locked behind giving SE even more of my money every month. I pay for 9 retainers already + the full subscription. That's enough for me.

Yeah this app is mostly definitely a cash grab, I never had any intention of using it for anything other than chatting anyway! But even the one thing I want it for? It's not even useful for that! The way they described it implied (to me) that I would be able to engage in the in-game FC chat with my entire FC that was currently logged in! Instead it only allows you to talk to people that also have the app and create group chats. For that we may as well just keep using discord! It has more features and it's free on top of that. I wanted to be able to talk to all of my FC including the ones that don't have discord with the app but alas, that's not the case. I messed with it for maybe 10 minutes and immediately deleted it off my phone.

I was well aware before hand that they were going to try and charge just to use the MB part of it. Stupid, just beyond stupid, but I had hoped they'd change their stance on being money grabbers and make the app free. Trust me, it didn't get my hopes up or become a let down when it released having to pay to use everything. MB was the only thing I cared about with the app so yeah, it all good, get to keep space on my phone!

I am still quite annoyed that the inventory space (retainer and saddlebag) is possible if you pay them but otherwise its somehow not..all these many retainers that you can pay for and we still dont have another free one..Also two kupo nuts as a maxium for the free version feels like a joke. (I am not even going to talk about the mog coins..)

All this time and money that was put behind the app which will probably only be usefull for certain people..all of this could have been put into ingame content.

In the end the biggest MMO on the market can give their players an app that is completely free and with quite the functions..yet SE puts a paywall for retainer management in this (and for space) and on top of that microtransactions..I think that this is quite telling.
