I have an adblocker and all it did was turn the ads into WoW-related stuff as opposed to getting rid of them. IDK if I'm doing something wrong...it takes so long for pages to load on WoWhead with my crappy internet regardless that I hope XIVDB doesn't go the same way.

I recommend using something like uBlock Origin. If I recall correctly, AdBlock Plus has some accepted advertiser system these days that lets some through which kind of defeats the purpose of it being an adblocker.

I'll give that one a try then. What a stupid change for ABP to make. thanks!

ABP is what you're doing wrong. It used to be good, but it has been unreliable ever since they started whitelisting, even if you opt out of it. Get uBlock Origin and uBlock Origin Extra.
Fortunately, computers operate on cause and effect like anything else, not vague superstitions. This makes "computer herpes" quite unlikely if you have any idea at all what you're doing.
Indeed, which is why you should go to wowhead with the understanding that the site is a bomb waiting to go off and if you really want to go deal with that you should suit up in the best bomb disposal suit you can get your hands on.
Why a sane person would go there even in such a suit knowing the potential pain awaiting them though, I dunno. There are other sources out there to mine that are a lot safer.
The site won't do anything bad to you if you have a remotely decent adblocker. If we're using the bomb analogy, it's less like wearing a suit and more like the bomb has been disarmed safely before you even approached it.Indeed, which is why you should go to wowhead with the understanding that the site is a bomb waiting to go off and if you really want to go deal with that you should suit up in the best bomb disposal suit you can get your hands on.

The issue with the site is that the ads are broken and sometimes try to infinitely load nonexistent targets, which eats up the resources on your computer (and as far as I know that's not even a problem anymore). It's not giving out viruses, which is the superstitious mumbo jumbo to which I was referring. Again though, uBlock prevents the problem entirely by never giving the ads a chance to load.Indeed, which is why you should go to wowhead with the understanding that the site is a bomb waiting to go off and if you really want to go deal with that you should suit up in the best bomb disposal suit you can get your hands on.

As long as the site itself isn't affected too much ie overwhelming ads and slowing down, I'm willing to keep giving it a shot. I have a pretty strong ad blocker on Chrome.

hi guys im sad to read that - since a month the german version of this site works not correctly so im wondering - maybe you guys know some other database from ff 14 where i can use different languages - i liked xivdb cause you could see which item is for which recept and in which patch you did get it from which monster etc,. im looking for something like that
LGBTIQA-Kontaktkreis
Hydaelyns Rainbow! - Kommt und feiert mit uns unterm Regenbogen!

https://www.garlandtools.org/db/# has a German language setting. Only thing missing from Garland Tools is the comments section of each entry but the layout is much nicer in my opinion.hi guys im sad to read that - since a month the german version of this site works not correctly so im wondering - maybe you guys know some other database from ff 14 where i can use different languages - i liked xivdb cause you could see which item is for which recept and in which patch you did get it from which monster etc,. im looking for something like that
