How forum moderation works - requesting a GM response please

I once sarcastically used the "re****" word and got a 10 day suspension.

Pretty easy for me to avoid a repeat as I don't use such words, but the one time I did, I got hit. They definitely have zero tolerance for the use of certain words.

This is harder than you think for some people.

Meanwhile, the people that blatantly attack other posters and sometimes even entire servers, and who frequently act very unprofessionally go unpunished, or receive a mere slap on the wrist... and others are flat-out banned for joke posts or a single infraction that isn’t even detrimental to this forum as a whole.

The forums are not what they used to be anymore. I recall a time where it was a great source of news shared by other forum goers, fan translations of japanese interviews (I miss Reinhart), and I would come daily scouring for any new piece of info. Now its just a cesspool of complaints and arguments.

I received a 10 day ban for saying 3 little letters. Someone made a comment about how parsing is garbage because it doesn't track how many resses you do, etc. and I had shown them that it does, where it shows it, and how its portrayed. It was literally just an info post, that I got banned for saying the 3 letters.

It's crazy around here sometimes.

It's funny because I have personally reported people for doing some of those things but I see them still wandering around here spreading vitriol and misinformation.

Yeah, the moderation here seems a bit inconsistent.

And I only say this because I've done things that I've observed have resulted in other people getting warnings/bans for doing the same things, and I've yet to get any myself.

Hell, that 80-something thread about parsers over the past two weeks should have probably resulted in bans for almost everyone in there. >_>

I would just really like to see some consistency. I know someone linked the Forum Guidelines, but there are people who have blatantly broke several of those that still post here, and people that have barely violated just one get perma-banned. I know of some that have gotten a warning for one thing that many continue to do, themselves included and they never receive another one. I guess it’s just dependent on if their posts are reported or not, but I’ve reported some posts before that are clear violations and they are still present in threads.

Honestly, sometimes I’m afraid to say what I want to say because I don’t want to risk my account because I want to participate in some of the contests, and you can only do that with an official forum account. And I feel like I really have to pick and choose my words/phrasing in more...heated topics. I’m with the OP in that I would like some clarification, at the very least.
