Just within the app. It's what you use to take any action, be it adjusting prices or sending them on ventures. You receive one daily; two if you're premium. And I believe you can purchase extras?

Hire an extra retainer in-game for no additional cost. (directly from the guide)

There is an additional currency in the app called Mog Coins that you purchase that work just like Kupo Nuts, for now at least. As stated during all of the Live Letters discussing the app they already have plans to expand the use of the Mog Coins.
