Parodying RMT Macros, what's the stance on that?

Everyone has seen "rez macros" where people would like to tie swiftcast to Raise/Resurrection/Ascend/etc, and then leave a little customized message telling people to get up. Some find them funny, some find them wholesome, and some find them cringe and spammy. We all seen those.

Some people have a stranger sense of humor, go all out, and make their revive messages look like RMT advertising, but with words tweaked around to actually fit to the rezzing topic, such as changing website names to fake websites, change anything "gold" to "revive" or related terms, and all that fluff.

Some who have seen those have claimed to report such cases, but have they ever gotten banned because of a parody message? If they have, how does the process work?

To think walking a holy crusade is a terrible idea... you're right, it is. :^)

I think general consensus is if you read it and know it's not an RMT ad it's fine. I'd like to think there's no mod that would ban you after reading logs that show you meme'd

You probably shouldn't because players will report anything that looks like RMT, even if it's obvious that it's a joke.

    It's just a prank bro.

My view is that if you want to meme RMT and you get reported and banned for it, then it's your own fault.

Best not to do it I say. If you really must, make no mention of any websites or gold/gil.

I can't imagine any GM banning you for a meme rez macro. Keep in mind that the GMs in this game aren't nameless, faceless automatons. They're people, people that can read chat logs, listen to players, and make independent decisions.

The worst that could ever happen, realistically, is that they yoink you into GM jail for a minute, make sure you're human, and ask you to revise the macro.

Personally I'd rather see a funny RMT macro once in a blue moon then the "You're a terrible, crap player, please feel like trash for dying but I'm great so I'm rezzing you so don't die again because you're crap. crap. crap. <SOUNDS> <SOUNDS> <SOUNDS>" 5 lines later macro. :/ but I'm a grump.

You should be fine, but those res macros are useless. The whole point of a res macro is to make it clear to other party members who you're ressing so they don't waste their own res, if you bury the name of the target under a mountain of text you're just spamming the chatbox with nothing of value.

While this is true, they're also likely flooded with reports from spam bots and if they're going through a batch of reports and skimming along with what looks like RMT, whoever used the macro might just be lumped in with the rest. Better to just not risk it.
