BLMs and the PF

This is more of a question for the raiders who use the Party Finder, but how is the meta with the party finder right now. Or to be more specific, are BLMs being excluded at present? As much as I'm procrastinating (been stuck in the 3.x patch series for the last two weeks, haven't even unlocked Sophia the Goddess yet or even the Final Steps of Faith), I'm running out of sidequests to do before I have to do the MSQ. I've been DRK for my dungeon queues and BLM for everything else, and unfortunately, they're both nearly at max level.

The character on this profile hasn't been active in a few months, so I genuinely don't know what, if any jobs, are being excluded at present. Just wondering if I need to worry being BLM since I am probably going to finish up HW within the next couple of weeks or so.

From my experience, sometimes BLm (and Sam) are excluded, but it's not as bad as some ppl say it is, at least for blm. I heal most of the time, but since blm is my favorite dd, I always take a look if a spot is open for it.
Speedkill groups search for the meta classes, yes. But it shouldn't be a problem to join farm groups for extreme primals or weekly kills. Usually when you can't join it's because there is already another blm or one of the other casters and ppl tend to search for 2 melees, 1 range und 1 caster. And even if you can't find a group you can simply open a new one.
However, I think it might be difficult for you to find a static as blm, if you want to search for one.

Oh nah, due to my unfortunate schedule, a static is not an option for me. I was just curious about PF groups as they are right now - it'll be a good while still before I am able to even see the endgame groups up in the PF. But thanks; if the exclusion is not as bad as it seems, then I'll continue on with BLM. Thanks.

Something like this shouldn't make you switch your class. Just play what you want. Sure, sometimes it might be easier to find a pf group as SMN, but it's not like every group excludes BLM. I always found one when I was searching for a group as BLM and ~ 2 weeks ago I even had a BLM in a fflog run group.

I agree with you in principle. But, you know, with players who want to follow the meta, combined with those who don't even realize that the meta works best if everybody knows what they're doing, and SAMs/BLMs/other excluded DPS jobs that put out lackluster damage - it creates a situation where worries like this crop up from time to time. Regardless, I still have my DRK to fall back on, if anything.

I think I've developed a complex over raiding and blm to the point I'm actively trying to learn dragoon just so I can use it in raids and my blm main in everything else and feel somewhat useful.

It's hard seeing a group wipe time and again and though you (I) bring high damage you're not getting off optimal rotation because of avoiding aoe or doing mechanics and requiring something like 30+ seconds of no movement for a full rotation is a big ask. So if I'm not bringing high damage and I have. I utility to help the group what am I doing? I'm trying my best but do feel that wipe at 5% could have been avoided if I'd got a full rotation in or was dragoon and boosted with battle litany.

It's all what ifs but maybe if mana shift wasn't so long on cool down I could be that unending mana well. Even that is limited.
Should say that's all me btw not issues you might encounter if you're a better blm you might not even have that

I dunno...I feel like I've gotten a full grasp of what to do...at least for a lvl 60 BLM. Played through enough of the Alex normal raids to get a feel for how to maintain Enochian throughout the whole encounter while dealing with mechanics. But...I am also not dealing with any lvl 70 stuff. Still, I like making things go kaboom

Ive seen no SAM, but I havent seen no BLM.

I haven't cleared the last 2 floors of current Savage yet but besides that I can say that I haven't seen BLM being excluded from any of the parties I joined (I always make a point of checking because I play BLM myself as my main DPS class and always try to give Arrow to them when I'm on AST). Full disclosure, though; it might be harder at the start of the next raid tier unless you find a friendly static, as BLM is not a very good job to prog with. For the remainder of this tier, and for any EX primal content or lower, you shouldn't have any issues though.

In the end it's completely up to the Party Leader to decide what roles they want. I've rarely seen BLM being excluded, but if that's a problem, make your own PF then there is no issue.
